What Tuneup/CleanUp software do you use?

I've been using Tuneup Utilities for years, but I heard/read that it doesn't support Win7 pretty well yet. So any recommendations?

yeah you have to be careful as to which one you use and do avoid reg defraggers. I personally use ccleaner.

I've been using Tune Up 2009, it has some incompatibilities, but all the cleaning features work perflecty. Also ccleaner, Windows 7 Manager and Argente Utilities. No problem so far. They make a very good cleaning suite hehe .

I think very many people are using those tools. Unfortunately they are not able to post here right now because they are busy reinstalling their OS after doing those "optimizations"

CCleaner is the one that works well. Don't use the registry cleaner function.

In general no need to do much with W7. Especially with state of the art hardware. Here some things you can do. There are some good tutorials on optimizing including on this forum. don't overdo it. some people make much effort to only run 47 services as opposed to 48. In reality, there isn't too much to be gained and you kind of need to know what you are doing.

I don't think there ever will be reliable registry cleaners since there have never been any. I've never seen a (backed up) proof that there would be gain in speed. But millions of instances where they caused problems. If you can delete 2 kB, do you really think that speeds up the PC?

If for some reason I need to delete all traces of a formerly installed software I use CCleaner to find those and manually select those entries. But I don't do that for speed, but when I need to re-isntall them and somehow the new installation still uses some old data.

If your registry (and the entire system) is so screwed up that it causes you trouble and slows down the PC, then a registry cleaner won't help and a clean install is needed anyway.
