Here was my first computer.
1979, Texas Instruments introduced their first very first 16 bit personal computers and had capable graphics, TMS-9900 processor and had a fast BASIC interpreter (machine code really flew!).
It was powerful 16bit processor and 16K of RAM. :what:

Here is a video of one of the high tech games with voice synthesizer... WOW
Video on YouTube Really RETRO

My first "bullet fast" computer. Apple //e with expanded memory of 128k. Uptown!!
From a magazine article at the time:

"CREATIVE COMPUTING VOL. 11, NO. 8 / AUGUST 1985 / PAGE 36

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Sider; 10Mb of mass storage for Apple II computers at a bargain price. (evaluation) Barry Bayer.

Five years ago I drooled over the new 5Mb Winchester hard disk drives being introduced to the Apple II market. Although I knew how useful a hard disk could be, I also knew that I would never be able to justify the purchase of a $3000 mass storage device for a $2000 computer. I also knew that I would never be able to fill 5Mb of disk space.

How times have changed. Today, (1985), a full fledged Apple IIc or IIe costs a little over $1000. And a 10Mb hard disk drive costs only $695. That's right. First Class Peripherals offers the Sider, a hard disk drive with 10Mb partitionable among four operating systems for $695."

Fast forward 24 years and see how things have changed. :D Wow, what will the next 24 years bring?

The first one I used in 1958 was a Zuse11 that was owned by the mathematical faculty of my university. It looked like the one on the picture which is a later model from 1961.

If I remember correctly, it was a Tandy 1000TX. OLD-COMPUTERS.COM : The Museum

I played an old game called Gunship on that thing. I'm not certain that the 1000TX is the right model, but it sure looks similar. It might have been a 1200.

Mine was a Timex. I had to use a B&W TV as a monitor and I had to program everything I did. The printer was a thermal printer that printed on paper the size of adding machine tape. I paid my dues.

It was 1984 and I had been using DOS machines at work (IBM) for a couple years when IBM announced an employee purchase program for the PCjr at 70% off. I picked up an aftermarket 512k sidecar to get me to the industry maximum 640k of memory and was off to the races.

Acorn Electron ( A kind of cut-down BBC Micro) .
6502 CPU, built in BASIC interpreter, with assembler. And an infinity of bolt-on expansions, with lots of additional hardware added on.
I added a hard drive, but had to write the software to actually make much use of it. Which at least forced me to learn about handling data files and arrays and such like bits of exotic coding. ( Well it was exotic to me then - early 1980s).

I was a repair tech at Digital Equipment Corp around '96 and we referred to the PB as "Packard Hell". (We were an authorized repair facility for PB, as well as Toshiba) Anyone outside of warranty status might as well have junked their computer if it needed a M/B because the price of the boards was astronomical. And...most of the time, the issue with the PB was the M/B...
