Saw a post on another forum yesterday which said that the upcoming "Skylake" generation of processors from Intel (due probably late next year) will continue to emphasize quad core in mainstream models.

It will also support DDR4 RAM, PCIe 4.0, and GT4e integrated graphics.

Using a 100 series chipset and an 1151 socket.

Still doesn't seem to be much software out there that would benefit from more than 4 cores.

While I agree, as the owner of an eight-core CPU, I can say that it does allow you to run multiple CPU-intensive tasks without slowing down. Being able to play a game like Bioshock 2 and render a video at the same time with no drop in performance is nice. That's the only advantage to it. Certainly, there is almost nothing out there that can use all eight cores at once.

15 cores that's crazy! Do they all share the same RAM?
I have a desktop running a Pentium D core two duo processor and a latop on a cor i7 64 bits and 8 Gram. I run Photoshop CS6 (and do processor intensive tasks on it) on both and have not realized any speed difference. I remember the days we had Pentium processors, when I'd buy a new PC with a new processor I'd be amazed at the speed difference between it and the old computer.
