What's the Best Anti-virus?

General Browser Protection running Firefox, Adblock, NoScript, WOT, BitDefender.
System Level, MS Security Essentials, Avast, WinZip system utilities suite.
Working behind a CISCO Firewall

I don't think you should get any conflicts with it, nice setup! :)
I use Gdata which is BitDefender plus Avast so... yeah ;)

Ever heard of Gibson Research Corp, they have a good way of testing your system for leaks and such. Once in a while I'll pop over to just see how mine is doing.
Yes, I've used GRC utilities for a few years. I like the ShieldsUp! test to make sure your ports are stealthed. A Windows PC has 65535 (I think) ports.

what's better avria or panda antivirus?

Mate personally I haven't tested Panda - Avira I have and it's pretty good.

You don't say whether you want a paid for or freebie either - heaps out there and I think that the paid for's are pretty good value as you get support and for around $0.20 a day it ain't going to break the bank!

As I have said many times before it depends on what you are doing with your computer and the onus is on YOU to be reckless or responsible.

Try driving home tomorrow on the wrong side of the road or drunk and see what the difference is LOL!!

Seriously lots of good stuff about mate and some to be avoided at all costs.

Personally I avoid Norton, CA,Trend, McAfee and AVG. Might be an idea to have a look at some of the review sites - NOT mags they are biased by default (advertising). As everyone is painfully aware now I use Kaspersky 2012 ISS as the paid for and Comodo Premium ISS as the freebie.

Good luck!

Answer:
Whatever you decide to use because using something is better than using nothing at all.

If there was such a thing as a "best" anti-malware we'd all be using it. ;)

My favorite protection is BitDefender 2011. I like Kaspersky, but it just slows my computer down too much. Simple to use and it is a great program overall. AVG didn't do too well when I had it, so I switched. I never tried Avast/Comodo so I wouldn't know about that. I also like MSE too, but I feel that BitDefender is better at protecting.

Hey Ahzrukhal if you are looking at Comodo the free Premium is the go mate very similar in a lot of ways to KIS - which I don't find slow my machines (4) down and the vary between a Sandy Bridge 12GB RAM to a lowly AMD Athlon 2 core 4GB RAM. It's much lighter than the previous version - just wondering are your CPU and RAM speeds up to it??

In any case the Comodo I am using on an old Dell Dimension 2400 XP has no to little effect on the boot or general running speed and thats with a single core Pentium 4 3.0Ghz and 2GB of DDR1 400Mhz RAM.:geek:

The features I like about KIS and CIS is the pop up allow / block messages.

I run MSE and Malwabytes...but manually...every once in a while I update them and scan.

I suppose that's not an ideal AV setup.

But I've always kind of believed that to get a virus on your PC you have to pretty much shoot your foot or put your foot in it.

By the way...this Sandboxie...is it good?

It works better on 32 bit systems since it modifies the Windows kernel(in memory I assume, not permanently.) Windows 64 won't let it do that. For a long time the author refused to do a 64 bit version for that reason. Now he employs several techniques on 64 bit such as "drop my rights" to attempt to get similar protection. There's plenty of technical info about it on the home page.

Just as matter of interest Miles there is a sandboxing feature in CIS which is pretty effective too. The other Sandboxing too is very good but having a free ISS and it having that feature kills two birds with one stone and I reckon that hello people would be better off just using CIS and MBAM.

Your thoughts??

I don't have experience with CIS so I don't have an opinion. The thing I found attractive with Sandboxie is only running it when I wanted and only running the app I want sandboxed under it. I prefer a selective approach to real-time shield methodology. I've just seen too many problems that disappear when you turn the shield off. It's like taking a shower with a raincoat on.
