what's wrong with my taskbar?

today i turn my computer but i see my taskbar like this image:

then i close some running programs it changes to normal icon like this image:

before this strange thing happen, i never change the taskbar settings all the time (i am used to set it to small icon, merge when it is full).

now i try to open Aero style, but that won't help things at all

so anybody can tell me how to solve the problem?

Did you try to uncheck Lock the taskbar and playing around with the dimensions?

Is the first image the way you are used to see your task bar?
