Well, I think I hold the record for the worst speed/highest cost connection:

2037502180.png

My company has been paying US $160/month for this connection although I talked to my ISP recently and they are supposedly dropping the rate to $99/month (I'll see if that happened when I get my bill in a day or two). ...

Just got my invoice and my ISP actually dropped my rate from $160/month to $91/month which is better but still ridiculously high.

This is as much as I can get with the package I have, as we are hard capped at this rate in my area. I don't get the 100Mb/s spikes, but I also don't get the 5-6Mb/s speeds where kids get out of school and try to download the entire internet!

Shaperprobe shows 23.5Mb/s download and 5.3Mb/s upload which is almost identical to what I pay for.

A 100/20 line, half of it (50/10) dedicated for IPTV. New price €59 ($73 or £47) a month, including 20GB online capacity for backups and files, 149 TV channels (record 4 watch 5th with timeshift or record 2 in Full HD watch 3rd with timeshift).

Not a bad deal.

Compared to price I pay you pay less. To really compare the prices, what do you pay for TV (cable / satellite) per month? Mine is as I mentioned including the IPTV solution.

Kari

EDIT: Yes, mine is also without any DL or bandwidth limits.

i recieved this email yesterday, thought i would show off :p ,
Dear BT Infinity Customer,
We hope you are enjoying the benefits of your superfast broadband, but how would you like to have a free upgrade to even faster speeds up to as fast as 300Mbps, free of charge for up to6 months.

We are looking for Customers to trial our new Infinity higher speed products and provided you agree to re-contract for 18 months with BT, all you need to take part is:-

· Be an existing BT Infinity Customer with a Fibre optic connection to your home.
· Be willing to provide feedback about the service

We are trialling 2 new higher speed products, at either 160Mbps or 300Mbps.

· The trial is only open to customers who re-contract with BT for 18 months. By accepting this invitation to join the trial, you are agreeing to a new 18 month contract and an order being placed to increase your speed to one of the above trial variants.

· We will send you our standard terms and conditions which do not extend the 18 month contract term or incur any additional price. The additional speed is free during the trial and you are free to leave the trial at any point.

· If you are currently an Option 2 customer, you will be upgraded to Option 3 at £35 a month and we will provide you with one of the faster speeds above.

· If you are already on Option 3 there will be NO change in price to take part in the trial.

· The trial is expected to run until the end of the year, and you will be contacted before the end of the trial to discuss your options once the trial has ended.

If you’d like to take part, please reply to this email ([email protected]) today, and we will send you our Welcome to Trial email with more information.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Regards

Kari,
If I wanted standard TV it's £12,€15 per month extra, there a lot of different Sat pachage's around and I'm with Sky at £62,€78 and that's for the top package HD 3D 100's of channels, so yes taken all in you are cheaper.

Laffen,
Yes an 18 month contract don't sound good but you have to look into things and sometimes it's the only choice you have. In my case back in April 2011 I was on ADSL2 @ 1.-2/0.5Mb then Fibre came on I was on 40/10Mb then a few months back was uplifted to 80/20Mb and all it cost was a new 18 month contract, which was ok for me because there are no other ISPs around my area offering Fibre, In fact the other day had post off an ISP asking would I like to have Fibre when they come to my area later on this year at £28 a month for 40/2Mb and 40Gb usage a month. So for me it was an open & shut case. I'd also do the same for the package Boohbah had an email for.

That's a nice upload speed :geek: I finally just have been able to switch back to comcast and I love my service. No matter what time of day I speed test, I'm usually within 1-2Mb/s of the last time. Currently I'm paying for a 16 Mb/s service, but I always get more. With the old Toshiba PCX2600 docsis 2.0 modem i would get speeds of 23-25Mb/s down and 3Mb/s up. I bought a new cable modem yesterday, just for kicks to see the difference between docsis 2.0 and docsis 3.0 and I picked up 10Mb/s down and my upload doubled to 6-6.5Mb/s with no change of service plan. I thought about stepping up to their 50Mb/s plan, but this is fine for me. The Motorola Surfboard eXtreme is what I got. Staples had them for $89.99, I figured it's worth testing. Turns out it's a nice modem, it's much more consistent than my old modem

Hey, your speeds are awesome as is anyways. I know my modem is really old because i've had it since 2007, and I got it used back then:huh: I chose not to rent one from comcast, to save the monthly fee. I'm sure they give out docsis 3.0 modems now to most users nowadays.
