Thanks Bill, what I took away after reading is SMP is for systems with multiple physical CPUs and allows them to work individually.
That part of the display is new to the 5.01 version of memtest and I suspect it's a lot different for an AMD system.

SMP 'is for' processors with multiple identical cores that share the same memory space and run a single OS kernel. A kernel has to be aware of this and implement the necessary synchronization locks and memory safety. Windows has been there since late '90s.

Yes, I just restarted the version 5.01 and there are two options, press F1 to enter fail-safe, and Press F2 to force SMP (Multi-core threading)

My replacement 2400 is on its way back and I'm curious to see if it will go 2666.

Mine goes to 2600 without even changing any timings or voltage, but surprise surprise the winsat drops from 31K to 28K. IMO it just ain't worth going past 2400 bud.

I think some more ram will be on my next upgrade list as this Vengeance isn't doing too well with this cpu but i'll wait until the prices drop a lot again before i buy.

Yeah mate, right now is the worst possible time to buy!

I stumbled across the budget ram online that I bought ages ago for my lounge rig. When I bought it ram was at an all time low, cost me £27 iirc for 8GB, it was £66 when I saw it the other day :shock:

Yup it's a joke man! Mine cost me £40 last year but now retails between £70-100
Hopefuly it doesn't last long but it could stay that way as DDR4 is on the way so DDR3 will start to faze out i suppose.

While RAM may be a bit more expensive than 2-3 months ago, it's still a good deal. About 2 years ago I bought two 2x4GB kits of GSkill plain Ripjaws for $229. That's a total of 8GB, $229. Here's a copy of part of the invoice.

Some odd and cofusing results with the i7-3770k system.
This is for 2x8GB 2400 Sniper RAM, 11-13-13 set at stock specs.




4x4GB Sniper 2133 OC'd to 2400.



An average difference of 1876MHz which isn't significant but still curious. Is it the slight difference in latency?

Maybe you should leave it alone that is pretty fast for any system
