why am i like the only one with 2006 version of cmd?

people with (i believe 7022 changes the copywright) 7022 up have the 2009 date
while the 7000 (and down?) have the 2006 copywright date...

while doesn't really matter (2009 is not really bringing new functionality)....

and also siw you should upload the conhost file as this is also part of the cmd

Just popped in "winsat cpu" to see what would happen, and found you can run two tests using -encryption and -compression
ie: winsat cpu -encryption

not sure if this was posted before somewhere but anyways...
nice for those of who like another benchmarking tool.

well i just switched and swapped my dimm's around, even if they arnt in the corresponding dual channels i still get the same 8500mb/s result. something is stopping my ram from entering duel channel i think. or maybe it has something to do with that interleave thingy. either way im doing my head in.. here is my cpu ass-esmant

im asking xfx support using their live support, they take a while to reply tho, but are quick to ask twice if you are still there. phft

hi, i have the 790i ultra with 1800mhz ddr3 ram, can you tell me what interleave means? it shows it while the system is at post. also how do i get my ram in dual channel mode? they are in the corresponding dual channel slots.

interleave is basically a feature of the RAM which allows for use of multiple threads, Providing that you have the RAM is the corresponding slots this should be operating in Dual Channel mode, this is an automatic feature

so it does not state at post if dual channel is enabled? i have ran several benchmarks for ram bandwidth and it does not change when i have them in dual channel mode or in slots like 0 1 which is not dual channel?

Are you using different RAM sizes, per module? cant see how this wouldnt be enabled aside if it is not Dual channel, but pretty sure the RAM is here,

Also depends on the benchmark to be honest, the best benchmarks will only find a 5% difference between the two

no they are a matched pair of 2gbx2 ddr3 1800mhz 8/8/8/24 2T this is why i cannot figure out why the bandwidth will not increase from 8500mb/s when in either channel mode.

ok so in case it is not the benchmark tool, would there be a reason as to why it might not be activating dual channel?

Im pretty sure it is here, as we have not come accross a case where it does not unless using awkward configs, ie different mem modules and sizes etc, but the config you currently have set up is fine as we have similar in effect ourselves, In testing however the difference between the two configs has been pretty minimal in all cases though

He's right in saying dual channel won't show a noticable difference to the user. It removes bottlenecks between the CPU and RAM mainly, and places like Wikipedia says in theory it doubles the bandwidth, so like my PC-5400 667MHz at stock speeds should be around 10800MB/s at peak speed in dual channel, but the winSAT mem test just seems to show the single channel bandwidth like 800MHz RAM is PC-6400 so 6400MB/s peak speed, and my RAM is OCed to 750MHz and gets around 6300MB/s, which is right for single channel.

I think the problem lies with the path from CPU to RAM. All AMD processors from Athlon 64 to current ones have an integrated memory controller on the CPU die, which accounts for higher bandwidth and lower latency to/from system memory. Although you will see a difference in benchmarks, there is not that much of a difference in application performance by increasing the bandwidth of your main memory.

If another person with an current AMD system posts you will see what I mean.

Have you overclocked your front side bus? Try increasing the frequency of this... your memory bandwidth might go up.

no i haven't, can you do a shot of a bench run with one of them and i will d/l the same prog to compare? i just thought the winsat test would be fairly acurate, even if it wasn't how does it explain ppl that can hit 9,000+ with similar specs but lower speed ddr2 using winsat?

i got it stable at aroud 8630mb/s now.

its not to improve performance, but purely a benchark test, i dont expect to see much or even no difference, its just to find out what the bandwidth transfer rate is and i was shocked once i found out what other ppl are getting with lower specs. so naturally, i wanna figure out why this is, wheather its a bios setting, software, hardware or an o/s issue its good for a reference and for other ppl that wanna experiment. techology these days are just about shock proof, the bios settings are generally easy to follow, red is pushing limits, green is safe, even if you go into the red or if something isnt liking a setting, most mobo's protect your hardware and simply reset to default. and with google a finger click away, you can just about give yourself a degree in engineering. lol

anyways enough dribble.

Firestrider, check my system specs, everything there is up to date apart from my mem timings which im just using intel burn test to finalize. my fsb is at 1801 (the 01 is so it wont drop below the 1800 when fluctuating)

but now that iv'e lapped the q9550 ill prob try again to get to 4ghz when i have the time and patients.
