Whats your opions on IE8

What is your opion on IE8

I like it sorta, and i dont know which browser ever to use, coz i like the look and feel of IE8 and then i like Firefox because its safer, a tad faster, and has a spell checker


but anyway mainly, what is your opion

I like IE 8... no problems so far! I also have Firefox and Chrome installed just to keep up with the new stuff, but I use IE8 95% of the time!

I was 'converted' to FF about a year ago and it's now my browser of choice. Easy to integrate the add-ons and the spell checker doe it for me as well

I used to use it but have found firefox much faster. I do still use it as some of M.softs sites don't display properly on F.fox!

IE8 is safer than Firefox, because it has Protected Mode support which Firefox doesn't have. Plus IE8's default UI is much better than Firefox's. Adblocking in IE8 can be achieved by installing Simple Adblock. But IE8 lacks some features like built-in spell-checker and download manager. It's also slightly slower than Firefox in loading pages, though this difference is hardly noticable. The bottom line is: if you want to customize your browser pick Firefox, otherwise stay with IE8.

If you know what's going to be in IE9 please post as we are all ears into what's going to be "new features" and what's changed from IE8.

Unless you've got "insider knowledge" I'm surprised you can say which product will be better.

Now you are perfectly entitled to say that based on past experience you THINK FF 4.0 will be better than IE9 but there are plenty of people who are quite satisfied now with IE8 since a lot of the initial glitches have been fixed.

I'd wait at least until you've actually RUN both before commiting yourself that FF 4.0 will be better than IE9. You could be right but until we've actually RUN and compared both we really can't say.

Let's not be complacent here. All browsers are at risk as soon as people start to use them. They start off by being the most secure version of the browser, be it FireFox, IE, Opera, Safari, (or whatever), but eventually flaws in the code will be revealed by unscrupulous malware writers who clamber to exploit them. The browser manufacturers, when notified of these problems, develop test and release patches for their relative browsers in order to close the holes. Eventually, the browser is replaced by a new version, and the cycle begins again.

I cannot comment on whether or not FF (or, indeed, any other browser) is better or not than IE since I have only got experience of IE. It is, of course, your choice as to which browser you choose to run. However, irrespective of which browser you use, the important thing is to make sure that you keep it patched and up to date.

As a side issue, I am looking forward to the release of IE9 which is scheduled for March 2010.

i prefer firefix normally. mainly because it is faster than ie, better addons, more configurable. however for some sites i do have a need for ie. some sites either because they are too graphic intense or are just extremely busy will time out in ff even though i have tweak the session time out. ie will eventually load the page as long as there is some info coming from the site. the impression i get with ff on sites like these is that if it has not received x amount of date in x amount of time it will time out, even though it is still receiving data from the site.

I only use IE8, I did try Firefox years ago but wasn't that impressed, then for some time used Maxthon, which actually runs on the IE engine but has a few more features, but when I tried it again on this Windows 7 machine I hit a snag and haven't looked to see if it could be solved I just went back to IE8 which does what I want.
I did install IEPro so that I could have spell checking so I'm happy with what I have and see no reason to take up space downloading and trying out other browsers.

You can seez the futurez!? Seriously though, nice to see someone saying a non-existent product is better then another non-existent product.

My opinion of IE is, its nice, hoping to see IE9 outperform all the other browsers.

Actually I think IE8 beats Maxthon to in terms of speed.

The contents of a user’s hard drive can be read if he or she visits a Web 2.0 site according to Jorge Luis Alvarez.

This can be accomplished by clicking on a single link that exploits Internet Explorer and Windows vulnerabilities.

“Every time we reported this to Microsoft, they were fixing just one of the features. Every time they [fixed] it, we managed another way to build the attack again,” Medina said in an interview.

“The things we are reporting are not bugs, they are features. They are needed for many applications to work, so [Microsoft] can’t simply remove or truncate,” he added.
