When I install my Graphic drivers my comp stops working??

OK, I thought you may have just installed it and were missing something in the process. I would shut it down and switch off the the power supply so it can't start back up by accident. Then remove the side panel and touch the power supply with one hand to discharge any static electricity on your body. Now re-seat ( remove and then re-insert) your video card, RAM modules, and any other add-in cards like sound cards and network cards. Check all your data and power cables to make sure non of them are loose. If there is a lot of dust inside you may want to clean that out. You can buy small cans of compressed air at Staples, Futureshop, etc for that. You can do it with a vacuum cleaner too if you are car full. Now leave the side panel off and power it up. Check to make sure all the cooling fans are working. Specifically the one on your video card and the one on your CPU heat sink.

All the fans work, I've tried re-seating the Ram but I'm not confident enough with computers to pull it out. 1) The Ram is really stuck in their and I'm not sure if I just pull it out with force or their is a switch. 2) The Graphics card is the same.

Check youtube for video's on removing RAM and GPU. There are some little tabs you have to push down to release the RAM and GPU from their sockets, then they just slide right out with very little effort.

Yes. Then see if the problem is still present. Also does the PC start without grapics drivers? Do you get a screen image?

Thanks

Yes, I go into device manager in safe mode then disable my Graphics Card completely by right clicking, restart it and it'll work while not in safe mode, however, if I run it while the graphics card isnt disabled, it'll do the black screen thing.

I'm a little confused. Are you or are you not getting a display? When... Safe Mode, or Normal?

I get a display on Safe mode AND normal mode when I have my graphics card disabled in device manager, but when I turn my graphics card to Enabled in device manager I only get a picture in safe mode, if I start it without safemode with it enabled it just stays black after 'loading windows'

Yeah, that sounds like a driver issue. Does that motherboard have an onboard video card?

BTW it REALLY would make life easier if you used the system specs section instead of just listing them on the first page. As you can see we're already on page 3 and I've had to visit page 1 several times to get a gist of what you have. Again.... help us help you.... please post your system specs in the appropiate place - systems specs

Thanks

Hi, I have this same d..n problem. It started on the 22 Feb after win7 SP1 was installed. Computer became very unstable - screen freezing, graphics intense programmes crashing. I have ended up clean reinstalling windows 3 times to track the problem. I now have SP1 and all important windows updates installed but when I try installing the drivers for the GST450 the screens go black after windows staring up screen and before the login screen. It appears the none of the available drivers for the GTS450 work with SP1. I have tried most of the versions from 260.89 to 266.58. I have uninstalled the drivers and am now running the card on the default VGA settings.

Either microsoft broke something in SP1 or nVidia need to update their drivers to fix this.

Any advice would be helpful.

Cheers
Chris

Have you visited any of the Nvidia forums to see if they have reported problems of this, and what solutions they offer? Might help.
