Solved Where is my Drive 0

I have an external disk which I use for my backups. I deleted a couple of Ubuntu partitions and in the process I think I saw something about a missing drive letter. I was clicking things too fast and by the time the missing drive letter registered in my brain it was too late.
Now when I go to disk management I don't see Drive 0. I plug and unplug the USB cable to the backup disk and get an audible signal that indicates connect and disconnect of the drive or maybe just the drivers.
I'm attaching a screen shot of what I see in disk management. As soon as I am able to get another external drive I will confirm that the problem isn't the drive.
What can I do in the meantime?

Have you tried hooking the external to another computer to see if it comes up ok ?

How many drives are hooked up NOT INCLUDING the external ?

Can you give us a shot of disk management from Windows 7 ?

This would be helpful. It will let us see what Windows 7 sees.
If I remember correctly some 3rd party programs move the numbers around.

After my last post I found an old external disk in my closet. Hooked it up and it was recognized. The original Drive 1 (system W7) had changed to Drive 0 and the external to Drive 1. I removed the external drive and the system drive remained as Drive 0.
My final analyisi is that the external drive with my backups is faulty. On Wednesday I will take it to the shop to troubleshoot further. Attached is the W7 screen shot.

I don't have a second computer.
Only the one HDD.

Bill it could of been the 3rd party program you use for disk management.
Some times they will read the drive # different than Windows.
That is why you must be careful when using some 3rd party disk management programs.
You can format or other things to a drive #1 using a 3rd party program when in Windows it's actually drive #0 you just made changes to.

If you give that 146 GB partition a letter, you could start using it for data storage.

Since my last post I have reformatted the disk, for other reasons. and the problem no longer exists.
