Trusted installer cant be removed. It is a user group without which you cant install programs. why would you want to?

Hi Ken, Windows just installed a lot of updates automatically (I forgot to turn it to manual) and I was thinking if this process was installed as a result. I heard that the process created a lot of problems i.e. some ppl. couldn't install programs, sometimes couldn't delete files etc etc etc....

Trusted Installer is part of the OS, it isnt installed by any specific update. It is the entity that owns a lot of files on the system, even though you may think you are the administrator.

Why do you want to fiddle with it? Just leave it alone. The idea behind it is to protect critical OS files from accidental deletion/ modification by users. Its not something that will bother you a lot of the time unless you try to delete some system files and folders. Then it'll come up with a "You need authorization..." or "You need permission..." message.

The workaround for such nags, should you need it, is very simple. You can give yourself full permissions on the concerned computer either by editing permissions or using the "Take ownership" reg hack. See below.

Windows 7 Take Ownership & Grant Permissions to Access Files & Folder

Add Take Ownership Option Shortcut in Right Click Menu of Windows 7

Chill...dude. For most things there is a workaround. OTOH, if you go around deleting and messing up big time with OS files, then there may be problems requiring reinstalls and repair installs. :)
