Which version of Acronis?

As for Acronis TIH 2010, stay well clear of this app, it completely 'trashed' my system. I had to re-image my system drive from a backup. I then tried another procedure to uninstall 2009 then load/install 2010, though, it did work, the backups took forever compared to Acronis TIH 2009!
i.e the same 500GB backup in Acronis 2009 took 3.5 hours to complete wheras Acronis 2010 listed the time to complete for the same size backup as 40,710 days!!!!!!!!!!!

To confirm, have a look at the Acronis Support Forums - a complete disaster - more like an 'epic fail'!

I currently run Acronis TIH 2009 and works as designed, no glitches it just does not support Dynamic disks, but that's fine with me!

Hmm. That sucks to hear that.... I was just about to download 2010 from their website.

So where can I get a 2009 copy? They only have 2010 on their website I think?

I just went from the free TI 11 Western Digital to 2010.

I like 2010 because I find it much faster to restore an image. Takes about 6-8 minutes, where as 11WD took around 15-20 minutes.
I also no longer get that screen after restoring image that comes up "Windows has shut down incorrectly" or something like that.

I do not like all the other added features it has. I find it quite bloated. All I need is a program that creates and restores an system image (which is what 11WD did).
I find creating an image is more complicated compared to 11, perhaps because I'm use to it.

I'm not looking to use this to back up my normal data, for that I use Second Copy.

So perhaps Acronis is a bit too bloated to use for just an OS image backup?

I think someone else mentioned a free .iso program that was good for OS backup... let me re-read this thread.

Paragon is a good free alternative to ATI 2010, and highly recommended by many here.
I know little of it however myself.

I've had no issues with ATI 2010, as some have stated here . It just works. (at least for me)

For what you want to do, paragon may very well be the best choice. As it will do what your asking for, and its free.

I've had an issue with the boot disk with Macrium on my Dad's computer. It just won't boot, and you need the boot cd/dvd in order to restore.
On my computer however, Macrium works quite well.
Best to try it out on your computer first to make sure all is ok.

I haven't truly tested Paragon yet.

I had serious issues with ATI2010 - uninstalled it. Strangely, ATI 11 works ok.

Macrium and Paragon are both very good free apps. Try and see which you prefer.

Make sure the boot discs work for your pc - as with any imaging app.

Ryan - did you try burning another Macrium Rescue cd using the Advanced options>Compatibility Mode and see if it works on your Dad's pc ?

If your PC refuses to boot with the rescue CD, then return to this wizard and click the 'Advanced' button. This allows you to create a special 'compatibility mode' disc which should allow even the most stubborn PC to boot with the rescue CD.

SIW, I did. I tried creating on his computer and on my computer and I tried every option a numerous amount of times.
He uses TI 2010 so it isn't a huge deal now.

It did work on mine and seemed like a very good program.

Might be something wrong with the server.

I can't connect to it right now.
