first of all, my thanks to the 2 chaps in forum support who kindly helped me when i was having trouble trying to get past the registration/login stage of this forum ... much appreciated.

now to my question ...

with my preferences set to PM and after i've 'x'ed it out say, at the end of the day, whenever i fire it up again, it returns showing a few tabs in the tab bar across the top of the page. so far so good.
but if and when i want to look for various sites, every time i click one, a new PM page appears and shows up on the task bar at the bottom of the screen. so now, i have 2 PM tabs in the task bar, my first(main) PM page plus a single PM tab in the in the task bar. if i looked and clicked at, say 5 different sites, my task bar would show 6 PM pages.

could i have missed something in preferences or in tab mix plus, perhaps forgotten to tick something because i've never noticed this behaviour before, either in w10 or when i was in w7 some years back?

any or all suggestions would be most welcome please.

Okay, first that Tab Mix Plus crap has been a source of issues that I've read at the Pale Moon forum.

Second, look at my settings here and try those.

I bet it's the show previews in the Windows taskbar. Now that Tabs Mix Plus may override these settings.

To ever rule out an add-on issue you can start the browser in safe mode which will not load the add-ons. To do that press and hold the shift key and at the same time open Pale Moon. Just use the safe mode option.

You can do the same thing for Firefox.

hello ...
i'm sorry but i'm not really sure what i'm meant to see in both photos ... both are log-in pages but no sight of your settings in either photo.
i held the 'shift' key down until PM was back on the screen which showed palemoon.start.me, not my usual PM page which is palemoon.org ...... anyway, couldn't see any sign of an icon or link to 'safe mode' so i don't think i'm any closer to a cure for my problem ...
my thanks for reading my post ...
