Why are you testing Win 7?

I was a beta tester for MS with Vista and am doing the same with Windows 7 to get another free copy of 7 or perhaps Vista. Plus it helps to get the bugs out of this operating system before it is released to the general public.

For me I tried Vista and if I uninstalled a program and wanted to reinstall it, it seemed to always end in failure. File access errors. I know of at least two major programs that I just could not uninstall completely and had to download the microsoft uninstall tool to remove them. With Windows 7, I can uninstall and reinstall at will, kind of like XP used to be. So I'm looking to get RC 1 and try the 64 bit version.

Yea I know the processor isn't that good, but I don't have enough money yet to build my first one which will probably have a Quad Core or something like it
Im not testing it... Im using it as my main OS! :D
The only problem I have had is with the mic (which I think its because of the damn crappy creative drivers), 64bit wlan encryption, and 2 user logged in at the same time.

Everything else works perfect :)
My games and apps run better than ever.

Im still on the 7000 build

A while back MS offered a fixed number of people a free dvd of either vista ultimate or office 2007 for allowing them to collect extra info from their comps for a certain period of time. You had to send an email and then they got back to you if selected. There's an old thread around about it, but I can't find it at the moment.

HI All,

I initially loaded Windows 7 so that I could get used to it to better support it when it's released. I use it as my OS of choice because it's good - It just works :D

Same here, I want a head start on the new OS, and I have been using it since Oct of 08, and will continue to use it until Windows 8. ;)

Cause I like to BREAK NEW THINGS!!

Heh-hehheh
Well to be honest, it's that and a combination of what others are already saying. If we as "Helpers" want to be able to stay current, we have to get the newest ASAP and get into all the little nooks and cranny's it has to see what new nooks and cranny's it has to get into (am I speeking in circles here?)

Plus I've been beta testing stuff since early last decade so why stop there, especially when it's Free and the darn thing works!!
Although I am having more issues with 7057 than any other build so far, I also know it's an Internal build and not destined for everyday use like 7000 was, and I still want to see where they're going with things. Personally, I don't like the new Control Panel icon, it looks flat and dull. I think they could've made more use of the older icon but make it more translucent looking and maybe more detail. This new one looks like something a new icon developer would put out in a trial pack or something.

Blazing...
I'm not "testing" Win7, I'm using it! I'll never install any Vista again, because Win7 is better IMHO. It already runs stable, fast and reliable. All the software I need works, all devices I use are supported (or the Vista drivers work). So I'm using it as my production system and I'll never look back.

Regards!

Same for me. I wasn't entirely happy with the Vista user experience, especially since I had been running OSX on my machine as well. Now I'm happier using Win7 than OSX!

I'm also using it as my main OS, because i got tired of vista and wanted to try something new... first i tried with linux...dissaster! :/ then i installed win 7 and im been using it since build 6801...I guess im "Testing" it because i want to
Follow the development of Win 7.

I didn't hate Vista but it wasn't anything to cheer about either. I downloaded Windows7 beta to try it out so I'd know if I wanted to buy it when it hits the market. I liked it well enough, and it was stable enough, to become my OS on both my desktop and my netbook. I recently moved to 64-bit and right now that will be my choice to purchase for the desktop when the time comes. I don't mess with the versions in the wild, though. 7000 is good for me.
