Why aren't we getting some important Updates

All that stuff is included with the newer builds. Thats the idea behind having new builds, you don't need updates because the new builds already have them. Thats the point of this entire build process is so you don't need to spend two days after installation downloading stuff just to fix all the stuff that was broken. The "Vista" days are over!

The More Information link directs to the MS09-014 Bulletin so it clearly affects IE8 and the latest Win7 builds since they are much older than this update.

More information:
Microsoft Security Bulletin MS09-014 - Critical: Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer (963027)

Microsoft needs to allow this patch for other leaked Windows 7 builds or it could leave thousands of machines open for attack

Patches come out once a month so this patch could be almost a month old, build 7077 is only 2 weeks old. Seems reasonable that the patch could be in build 7077.

yea, but can either go with this 2 ways...

1. you already got them in the newer builds, i would say from 68 on up

2. MS doesnt "expect" to have to support a vulnerability in "non MS supported" builds.... they only have to protect their butts to the "public release". A good tort lawyer would love for MS not to release/fix/patch something and hand it out to the necessary "legit" community. That would be negligent :p lol

I hear your cry tho. But this is where us 7000 users get to stick out our tongues i guess lol :p

hi all,

I am still on the 7000 build and the IE8 update installed. I did notice that on my XP and Vista machines , MS had thier Malicious Software Removal Tool update on that same day. I was wondering why MS doesnt apply that update in Windows 7? Does the malicious software removal tool not work in Windows 7 because it is Beta?

Most of us, on the other hand, are now using the full IE8 which (touch wood) does not have the problems that the BETA does.

IMO anyway ;)

I'd wager most of us aren't using IE anything ;)

I've not had any issues with IE since using build 7048. I've actually used IE since it's 1 or 2 itteration.

Ditto. Love 7, but I cannot remember the last time I regularly used IE. It's been at least 10 years.

For the near future, the amount of work MS must do for IE to surpass FF and Chrome is simply insurmountable. Maybe that will change in 5 years. Maybe not.

As far as I can tell MS. has been working on and researching this issue for almost a year. as to the Question of "Applicable Updates" I did a little research my self, I am running 4 different computers all running a version of Windows 7 both x64 and x86 from the 7000 version to the 7068 version, on laptops and desktops. So far the 7000 -"7048?" do not have the updated files as per this data "MS09-014", located down the list. But the 7068 (and the 7077 what some blogs stated) already have the updates, a couple of them also claim that the 7048 and 7057 has them as well. (I don't know about these 2 , haven't searched the 48 and I quit using the 57).

If you want to dig into the existing research and constant ongoing ones, start on these links and go to the security groups also, It will take a while. But there is lots of info related to this security issue, and MS is doing there best to solve them in the IE8, IE7 and IE6, for all of us who use MS OS's

These security Issues are not just IE, there are also about 5 to 6 other browsers listed in the different security groups claiming the security vulnerability.

Maybe..the blended threat of using either Safari or Internet Explorer :p

We're using a BETA folks, maybe this is something that needs to ID'd as an issue or it's nothing at all, already in the latest leaks................

Has anyone bothered to report this "issue"?
