As the subject says. My slide show works fine until the computer goes to sleep. I have to reboot to get it to work again. Any ideas what I've done that could cause this? Thanks!

search "Power Options" Without the quotes in the search bar or Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Power Options.

Click "Change Plan Settings" (recommended have Balanced or High Performance checked), then click "Change Advanced Power Settings"

Under Desktop Background Settings and Slideshow, make sure it reads "Available" and not "Paused"

You can also right click the desktop and perhaps something will be there that allows you to unpause it.

Make sure you have a slideshow theme going on (Right click Desktop, click "Personalize", Ensure multiple backgrounds are selected

Thank you Dustsailor! It was the power option settings, didn't know I had that setting or when I had changed it! Very weird, this has been having me scratch my head for almost two months. lol Thanks again.

I've got another question- what if it isn' connected to power management? I've got everything set to display slideshow, and yet it's not available in personalize menu. Can anyone help?

It should be displayed in personalize. It gives you a number of different themes that you can change to, and all but one (Windows 7) Aero Themes have slide shows with them. If you want to select your own slide shows, click desktop background at the bottom and select which ones you want by clicking the check boxes. If this doesn't work, explain a little more of your problem because I'm not sure I understand

Well, I've got everything set according to these tips, and yet it's not active. Maybe a screens will help:
1. No interval choose
2. inactive option

Make sure your operating system supports it. Windows Basic doesn't, but Windows Home or higher does. Win 7 Starter doesn't support it either (If there is a Win 7 Starter).

Make sure your graphics card has all of its drivers. Search online with the company who made it.

Let me know if you still have problems

I've got Home Premium, and what's more it worked just few hours ago. It all of a sudden it stopped, with no reason. I would blame the power management app for ma notebook, couse it casued a lot of problems before. What's more I used the uxtheme patch, but it worked after patching for some time...

Edit: drivers are updated, still nothing.

Use a system restore point if you have one, uninstall anything that is causing problems. You have a power management app? I wouldn't recommend using those, they don't do anything more than win 7 already can do.

Otherwise, check for viruses. I recommend only having 1 antivirus software, and i recommend microsoft security essentials. you can also use malwarebytes. check for viruses and erase them

I wouldn't know what else to do other than trying a repair of windows, and failing that, a complete reinstall. Never install things that you don't really need or that cannot be trusted. Also, some software claims to only support certain operating systems, I would make sure that I didn't install anything that was for another operating system.

Well, that apps came with the notebook, and it wasn't problematic before. Unfortunately I don't have any previous restore points. But the problem is kind of solved- as it don't display that option in the personalize menu, it still changes the wallpaper. The only inconvenience is that I have to use the regedit to change the interval, but then again it's not something I need everyday.

Computer is clean, recent scan from various programs didn't show anything. Maybe I try to do something with this Power4Gear app. Anyway, I appreciate all the help you provided. Thanks!

One more thing... I've just found out that what I marked as (2) on screenshots was just an info, not a link to settings... I've completely forgotten about it.

Well, i too wouldn't recommend using another power management program. Believe me, these so called utility apps that come pre-installed on OEMs are mostly bloatware. They rarely do any good than just harming your pc's stability.
You can try creating a system's image (OS partition image, so that you can retrieve that power management app if you decide so in future in case you don't have the install media). There're many apps for it, Macrium, Acronis true image or even the windows in-built tool. It's under backup and restore in control panel.
Uninstall that pre-install app. Also remove any other preinstalled program too if you don't need them.
Reboot. See how it goes now.

Well, just uninstalling didn't help, still no interval option is available in background menu. I didn't installed any other oem apps, 'cause I did a reinstall recently. Anyway, It works, in a little strange fashion, but nevertheless, it works. Maybe if i find more time I try to do something with it. I still have an original partition image from Asus, to recovery, but I leave it for now. Thank you all very much for help, but if you still have some advices, don't hesitate to share

No, not yet. I'll run it later and let you know what happened.

Edit: So, sfc didn't helped much. It only restored the original uxtheme files for patched ones, which had nothing to do with the problem, as it worked on patched files. I don't know, the log file from sfc would tell you something more?

Anyway, it's not really a problem for me, I'm just curious why it doesn't work properly...

If you have all updates and drivers for your system (Especially graphics card's update from online and making sure it has all its proper settings) and its still broken, then if you really want it I'd reinstall and I wouldn't install things on my computer that weren't needed. Programs that have been uninstalled may still have their effect last upon the computer. Don't know if a repair would help but you could try that method instead.

You followed all my posts up to this point concerning the power management settings? You have selected multiple photos to switch from?

Well, I've already got over it. Slideshow works, if I'd ever wanted to change the interval, I can always make a short trip to registry editor. Besides that, everything is working great, so I just leave it as it is.

Anyway, thank you all for replies, and have a great holiday time everyone!
