Solved Wifi Connected and No Internet Access

Help, please. I have a laptop that shows the yellow triangle on the WiFi tray icon. Other devices can connect to the same router without issues.
1) I tried using a wired connection with no success in connecting to the internet.
2) I tested the hardware using Ubuntu LiveUSB and was successful in connecting the laptop to the router.

Below is the output from ipconfig /all is attached.

Any yellow marks show in Device Manager? Have you installed the driver for your Wireless and Lan cards/devices?

In Device Manager, there are no yellow marks. I installed the latest device driver for the wireless "Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N-1030" This did not fix the connection problem.

I also tried doing the manual WinSockFix commands that were here (Nothing found for En-us Winsock-fix-for-windows-7 ):
netsh winsock reset catalog
netsh int ip reset reset.log hit
REBOOT PC
This WinSockFix did not restore the internet connectivity.

1) I get a successful reply from pinging 127.0.0.1.
2) I get a successful reply from pinging the laptop's Autoconfiguration IPv4 Address: 169.254.117.5
Unfortunately, this IP address should be 192.168.x.x
3) I do NOT get a successful reply from the Default Gateway (router's IP address).

I can get a successful reply from pinging the router's IP address if I manually configure the "Internet Protocol Version 4" with a private IP address (192.168.1.50) and put in the router's IP address as the gateway and Preferred DNS Server. Unfortunately, while I can now ping the router, and the IP address associated with Google(216.58.219.238) I cannot open the Google URL in any browser. But if I type in the IP address 216.58.219.238, the Google website is displayed. Also the yellow triangle "No Internet Access" is now gone. Do it would seem that the DNS server is not happy.

Configuring the IPv4 addresses manually is not ideal and worse still, when I reboot the laptop, the connection is again not working.

Try connecting with a Ethernet cable directly to the ISP modem, bypassing the router, see if that works? If yes then power cycle all three devices, ISP modem, router and PC, in sequence.

Power all three down.
Power on the modem and wait for it to stabilize.
Power on the router and wait for it to stabilize.
Power on the Laptop.

See if Ethernet works.
See if Wireless works.

The laptop was not able to connect directly to the modem. However, I did reset both the modem and router. This did nothing to correct the problem. All other devices, Win8.1 laptop, i Pad, Android tablet, etc. can still connect to router. I am considering re-imaging the operating system as a last resort but hate the idea of reinstalling all the applications and their associated licenses.

Chech to see if a Proxy has been setup.

Open IE.
Click on Tools or the Gear icon and select Internet Options.
Click on the Connection tab.
Click on the Lan settings button.
Automatically detect should be selected.

Also, click on Start then Run or press Window key (next to left Ctrl key) +R and paste the following into the Run box, exactly as shown, including double quotes:

cmd /c "ipconfig /all > postme.txt & ping yahoo.com >> postme.txt & reg query "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings" >> postme.txt & notepad postme.txt & del postme.txt"

and press ENTER.

A file will open in Notepad. Please copy and paste the contents here. Close the Notepad window and the file will be deleted and the Command Prompt window will also close.

If you don't have a Run selection off the Start menu, see here: Enable Run Command on Windows 7 or Vista Start Menu, or How to access the 'Run' box in Windows® 8.1 - YouTube or just press Windows Key (next to the left Ctrl key) + R, or open the Modern desktop, type run then click on Run that appears.

One last question. Why couldn't you connect directly to the ISP Modem?

I do not know why I could not connect to the Cable Model directly. It showed the same results as trying to connect to the router. I was able to connect another windows 7 laptop to the modem with no issues.

Definitely shows no wired or Wireless connection.

You can try Uninstalling the Intel Wireless adapter from Device Manager, just right click and select Uninstall.
Do the same with the wired Lan device.

Reboot and let Windows 7 rediscover the devices and reload the drivers. see if that makes a difference. If no help then a Repair Install may be your best bet. Brink's tutorial is very good for this.

You mentioned reimage. Do you have a image backup? If so might be worth while trying the Repair Install first as that leaves most things intact. Reimage if that doesn't help.
