Hello,

So the problem is that my WiFi somehow doesn't show up on my devices. However, the internet works perfectly fine through ethernet cable for my PC. All my other devices such as my phone and laptop dont see the router even though I have enabled wifi through the router control panel. I also have reset the router manually, updated to recent firmware. My ISP said it might be my computer so I disconnected the cable from the pc to the router and hardwired to another computer, tried that for a day but still no help

I thought it was my router's problem so I exchanged it for the same model (Netgear N300) but the problem still exists. I went back to ask the computer store to test the router's wifi and they said that it worked fine...

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hello,

Please navigate on your Device Manager, locate Network Adapters, can you see your Wi-Fi adapter? Any symbol on it...? X or !
not needed - bubu...

Updating the Wi-Fi adapter to the latest might also help.

Also, are you using a wireless utility manager or check your Windows WLAN Auto config service if it's enabled/disabled?

Sorry for the late reply.

Which device do I go on to the device manager? My laptop or my computer(which is connected directly to the router)

If my adapters were outdated, shouldn't my smartphones still be able to connect? And putting that question aside, it would be rare for every network adapter in every laptop to be outdated, right?

Thanks!

Just checked all WLAN Auto Configs, all have started but the wifi is still not to be seen... Do you think its something to do with the router settings?

Last week there were 2 PCs at work that were running so slow, usual complaints from my co-workers. :p The PCs are 2 different brands (Dell and Lenovo), I ran Speccy then found out from the output that both CPUs were over heating. I opened up the 2 computers and saw bulging capacitors on both Motherboards - coincidence?
I said it 'might' help, you may of course skip updating the network adapters if you wish and since all wireless devices aren't able to connect to your Netgear router. I had to go back again and re-read your initial post.

This is not needed, it was a mistake, sorry....

Back to your issue - Who is your ISP? Do they require enabling Mac cloning from your router setting? Have you done this also?

No worries :P Any help is appreciated.

My ISP is a small company called ADSL24 which you probably wouldn't have heard of. What is Mac Cloning?

It sounds like SSID broadcasting is turned off in the routers settings. ;)

No other reason for nothing being able to see the network.

If that's the case, I would recommend that you/they kept it off...it's just another line of defense.

You might want to experiment and logon to your router setting, try removing the network security for now or lower the security to WEP and connect one of your wireless devices.

Have you tried to manually adding your SSID (whether it's broadcasting or not) in your computer? http://www.windowsreference.com/win...ct-to-wireless-network-not-broadcasting-ssid/

Have you also visited your ISP's site support page? There seems to be some guides on how to setup a router.

Also, we'd be curious to know if Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector can detect your wireless network. You may install it from any wireless computers. To run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector, double click the Xirrus icon on your Desktop, you may use the Windows 7 snipping tool to crop or Paint by tapping the Print screen key on your keyboard, open up Paint (Click on Start>All Programs>Accessories>Paint) then choose Edit from the Menu and select Paste, then save it and please attach the file on your next post.

Hello guys

I have an update.
Good news: WiFi works
Bad news: Can no longer connect via ethernet...

I found an old router(D-Link) and connected it up and wifi came up, but I didnt know the password for the router page or for the wifi, but that didnt matter because I am not going to use this D-Link router.

Therefore, I went to exchange my router for a new one (still netgear, but different model N600). Connected it all up, wifi works but somehow my computer isn't connected to the network.

Sometimes it manages to connect and shows it as a unidentified network. I tried going on 192.168.0.1 from there, but my browser says unable to connect. Sometimes it goes off and no network is identified and a red cross is shown on the network symbol.

I tried ethernet through my laptop, but same result as computer

Determined to get internet up for the day, I decided to set the router up using my smartphone. Now I have Wifi over all my devices except my computer :(

What do you think? Problem with my computer?
