my wifi is disconnected....how to connect it, it shows x red 802.11 b,g drivers updated windows also.....how to fix????

Go to Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center

Click on Manage Wireless Networks in the upper left corner.

Remove the entry for the SSID that you are wanting to connect to.

Click on the Wireless network icon in the notification area (by the clock).

Select the SSID that you want to connect to.

Enter the network key.

Let us know if this works for you or if you need more info to complete the steps above.

yes but my wifi is disconnected even when Im enableing it I see the network adapters but I still can't connect ......with troubleshooting ....problem with adapter or access point ....others computers can connect with windows 7 to the same adapter but I can't something missing with my system.....pls help

Thanks for bringing that up. I thought that I had covered that by asking what the OP saw by the clock - but having re-read what I asked and the OP's answer, I see that we really did not know the state of such a switch. I should have asked if the OP sees the button named Connect by the SSID of interest?

Thanks for confirming that the wireless radio is switched on. Can you please provide a screenshot of the clock/notification area and the list of SSIDs that you see? A screenshot like I show in post #4. I'm hoping to determine if Windows is handling the connection or if you have some 3rd party app "helping".

Just as a test:
Temporarily make the wireless access point use not encryption and see if you can connect.

You should be able to set the Wireless Access Point (WAP) so that is does not ask for a key when you connect to it. That would make it open or unsecured. This is just temporary as a test.

When you connect to the WAP, there should be a place to select the encryption type (like WEP, WPA, WPA2....). One of the options should be to select "none" or "open" or maybe "off".... or some other option that means no encryption.

I want to see if your computer can connect if there is no encryption involved.

Do you know how to connect to your WAP's interface? Hopefully, you can use a wired cable to connect to it.

Does the wireless card connect to other WAPs? Take the laptop to a friend's home and test it there.

I added throgh center sharing this wierless network and did what you said by choosing non...but nothing.... this network accessed by my friends at the moment with other computers with windows 7 and other windows even my smart phon can access ...something missing in my system .......????
