Solved Will A: vs. C: work as the Windows-7 System Drive?

I would like to begin using an SSD in my older Tower.

I use W7-Pro-64 with 4GB's of Ram.

I would like to know if I were to install 7 on an SSD and assign the Systems Drive Letter to A:, if I would have any trouble with 7?

Additionally, would Applications like Office, BoostSpeed, Picasa, etc. install on C: as they did before or would they install on A:?

I'm hoping they are all going to install on C:.

A: & B: are for fopply drives, the OS needs to be installed to C:.

When correctly installed from boot Win7 will always see itself as C. If installed from another OS which blocks it from C, it will take the next available drive letter not including A or B.

Since entire generations have been born not knowing what floppy drives are, I don't know how much longer those letters and B will be blocked or if they are somehow available. Others might know for sure a way to claim them.

I used B: as my 3.5" Backup Drive for about a year with no bad effects that I know of.

I just wanted Forum Feedback as it might keep me out of trouble.

Have any other Forum Members tried this with a SSD?

Windows will always be C, you can`t pick a drive letter during an install.

You can install windows on a partition marked D when your in windows, but when you boot to that system it will still be C.

As long as it's being installed from booted installer so that the OS it's being run from doesn't withhold C.
