Solved Will Sleep Mode end running programs?

Often I have to render my CAD work for my clients for marketing purposes. As the rendering process can take a couple of hours I usually let it run overnight. Here's my question: if I set my PC to go to sleep after, say, 1 hour will that prevent the rendering software from completing its task or will that still run despite the PC going into Sleep Mode?

No,it wont run. The hdd is turned off and computer can't read/write from it.

Yes it will prevent any further execution. If you set the machine to sleep, then all programs are suspended.

I don't think it will work.
Sleep mode and hibernation both simply save the state your desktop is in (what programs are open, what files are accessed) in a file that is saved in RAM or on the hard drive respectively. But the computer is then put into a low power state. I do not believe that anything can actually run or do work in that state.

Why not conduct an experiment? Find an old saved job and render it, and while it is working manually put the computer into sleep mode and see what happens.

Why you just don't turn off your monitor and let computer to render the object?

Stalker: the idea is just to save energy.

Yes,I understand you. But if you stop rendering process you should start it again(with sleep mode),that means more wats.

I occasionally have a similar requirement to leave a job running overnight. My solution was the same as StalkeR suggested.

1. Change my power settings to NEVER go to sleep (display & computer).
2. Start job.
3. Physically turn off the display.

Next morning,
1. Physically turn on the display.
2. Reset my power settings.
