When I login sometimes it freezes no programs will run. I then press the reset button to reboot and all is good. I did not have these problems before I installed my SSDD.

Any startup item must be causing this issue.

I have the same problem....the computer freezes soon after starting (every time) and I have to press the "off" button to start it again, after which it seems to run OK.
I am very, very new to computing...so , how do I find out the programmes which are starting up automatically, please?

John.

There are services that run at startup, and perhaps programs as well (depending on what you've installed). Go to the start menu and in the 'search' box at the bottom type 'System Configuration'. That will appear at the top of the results list. Click on that and there are tabs for both startup programs and startup services. I have the same problem, but it freezes EVERY TIME (I think it's a hardware issue). disable or uninstall whatever you last installed (hardware or software) and see if that cures it. If that doesn't work, there is a post by me out here where Capt'n Jack put a couple of links for troubleshooting this issue. Basically it's 'disable all startup programs and services' and then turn them on one at a time (rebooting each time) until the thing freezes, that should isolate whether or not it's a program or service.

Thankyou for taking the time to reply......I am working through the advice gradually. It will be a long job as the comp runs for 5 - 10 minutes every time before it decides to freeze !
Thanks anyway !

For whatever it's worth, my particular problem was hardware related. I installed a new main board and everything works now. You should keep grinding through what you're doing just in case. Best of luck.
