Hi all,
I hope someone here can answear a question for me. Hopefully this question will not cause to much of a heated debate. And also if this has been asked before, I apologize for bring it up again.

Question:Kind of a statement and question I quess. I know of some people who have won Win 7 keys online from various contest. These keys from what I understand are from someones MSDN acccount. I have a valid legit copy of Win 7 home premium on my PC as I type this.(Have been using it for seveal Months). I have entered and won one of these keys.

Basicly I only entered to see what these keys are, curisoty got the best of me, I found out by using the PIDX product key checker and it states it is from MSDN. Is it ok for an MSDN subcriber to give-a-way license keys in this fasion or in any fasion? Is there a chance the keys will key backlisted or revoked. I dont want a lot these people to be disappointed if something happens that there key they win form these contests become invalid in some way, as some of the people are my friends. I am not to worried about the key that I won as I already have a legit valid install of Win 7 home premium. I might try the key I won on my new PC for evaluation purpose as all I know about these particular keys is that they are for evalaution purposes only.

Any info and help would be appriciated. Sorry for the long post (just tring to explain myself). I will check this post tomarrow as I am tired and need to get to sleep. Good night.....

I dont know much about MSDN accounts and I did do some research on it but could not find much info on this.

No its not ok, ever. Just because they say they are from an msdn subscription doesnt mean they are though. If it was a MS sanctioned giveaway, then the keys may have been generated from the same pool of keys msdn's use.

Hi, I think maybe a little misunderstanding in my post. The author of the blog that was giving away these keys did not say they are from MSDN account. When I checked the key with the PIDX product key checker, it showed it is from an MSDN account. I also told my friends about the PIDX product checker. They also checked it out and it showed the same thing. That the keys are from and MSDN account. Now I dont know if the blogger who sent out these keys for a christmas/new years giveaway owns the MSDN account or not. I can only assume that he does. Reasons is that he (according to the winners listed on his blog) has given out more than 50 keys of Win 7 Ultimate and Pro.
Although I think these keys a genuine --- it is the fact that I believe (correct me if I am wrong) this may be some form of abuse on the owner of the MSDN account. I tried to expain this to my friends that won a key, I only ask here about it to confirm it. Like I stated in my post I dont know much about MSDN or Tecknet for that matter. I did do some research to back up what I was thinking about misuse/abuse of ones MSDN account, but I could not find much on it. I was hopeing that someone here knows more about MSDN and the rules and regs about owning an MSDN account. I would like to be able to provide some documented proof about this to my friends who are all to excited about winning a Win 7 key. Just want to be able to tell them that maybe something could happen and that maybe there keys could eventuly become invalid and not work anymore. Some of them has already installed there copy of Win 7 (won from this certain blog) and stated that the key activated with no problems (also sent me sreen captures) to show that it is activated.
Please dont get me wrong. I have home premium that i bought and istalled on my current PC. I just entered the contests thinking that no way I win a key. But low a behold I did win one. As stated curiosity got the best of me and I wanted to see what these win 7 keys hey/she was giving away where all about. I dont know what I will do the the key I won. (havent a clue yet). If I do use it, it will always be in the back of my mind that somewhere down the line the key would/could become useless.
Thanks for you time and understanding. I hope you understand what I am/was tying to say.
added: Just dont want some people (my friends) eventualy having a big disappointment if later down the line that the keys they become inactive and useless.
