On old Dell PowerEdge 400SC
with 2 gb memory, 40 gb harddrive

I just got Win 7 installed, but it doesn't see the on-board sound system. Tried to download a sound driver, but because Win 7 doesn't even see sound hardware installed, it won't install a driver.

Any ideas?

What sound system were you using before going over to Windows 7? Go to their web-site and download the Sound Controller. Usually Realtek AC'97 Audio works on many computers.

Kindly also fill up your System Specs fully to the extent that you can. You shall get better help if you do that.
