I have Win 7 Home on my desktop. Purchased a Win 7 Pro "upgrade" disc from Newegg. But, I'm confused a bit by the packaging. The disc is clearly a Microsoft product as I had to "break the seal" to open the disc envelope. But...the label states "This is not a COA". and there is a small sticker covering the validation key. What do I have and how do I install it?

You might post a direct link to the item you bought,
That I've noticed newegg only sells oem/ system builders
They are not Upgrade versions they are full oem/ system builder but you will have to clean install it meaning you will loose any data on the hard drive.

Only a clean install which isn't necessarily a bad thing upgrades in general suck :)

Just hold on to what you bought, it`s gold. :)

Not sure why you ever thought it was an upgrade disc, it says nothing of that in it`s description, and I certainly hope there is a COA, and there should not be anything covering it up, you should be able to peel it off the packaging if you wanted to, or it at least should be affixed to the packing and legible.

Don`t ever loose the packaging and disc, put it inside the PC when you`re done with it.

Apparently it`s some sort of scratch off to read the key, be very careful.

I never done, but to do an upgrade, boot your Win 7 Home and launch setup from Explorer. It must be same bit version.
As always, backup your data first.
