Win 7 Pro PC does not access Win XP PC

ipconfig /all shows no issues at all.

Pls. enable the Guest Account from BILLDT2, although it's not too safe. Not much you can do for XP Home Edition in terms of Permission. Usually creating Identical Usernames and Passwords helps.

Also, please have a read at this.
How do I Enable the Guest Account on BILLDT2? Also note that though 3 PCs involved here, I'm only user so no Password in use, I'm only Account with Administrative Privelges on all 3.

Before I got this new PC with Win 7 on it, BILLDT2 was sitting here and an older PC with 98SE was where BILLDT2 is now, BILLLT was where it is and at that time the Network worked flawsly both directions & to had a another laptop (loaned now to my son in Iraq) so in total, had 4 PCs on Network, seems problems have come up with the new PC & Win 7. FYI, I did uninstall the Linsys software from BILLDT2 when it no longer had router connected to it. Appears with WIN 7 Pro, the Linksys software is not needed.
I guess I could be satisfied that BILLDT2 & BILLLT can see/access files & use printer on BILLDT1.
Appreciate all your help but I hate to keep you tied up with an issue that appears unsolvable.

It won't hurt to change MSHOME to a diff Name. Can you pls. give this a go?
I did change all 3 PC Workgroups from MSHOME to GABHOME, same problem. I can still access files & print on BILLDT1 from BILLDT2 & BILLLT.

I'm fairly positive that exactly this is the problem. I'm positive because setting a non-blank user password solved the exact same problem for me.

So, please set a user password for the accounts (same username, same password), try again, and report back whether this solves your problem too.

All 3 PCs now have same username/password. Restarted all 3 after changes made.

Also enabled Guest Account on the XP Home PC.

This PC, BILLDT1, sees other 2 PCs but as before, only allowing access on BILLLT. I can access files/printer from BILLDT2 & BILLLT.

In conclusion, problem still exists even after performing above, can't access BILLDT2 from other 2 PCs.

Also enabled Guest Account on the XP Home PC. Did not on XP Pro PC as your cited reference said doing so on XP Pro not needed.
Same problem exists as noted in Post 45.
Thanks to all again.............Bill

To wrap it up: all three PCs belong to the same workgroup, have the same login name, and the same non-empty password e.g. "password", and you still get the same error message as in Post #7 when you are logged in using aforementioned login name?

If this is so, then I'm sorry, I have no other tricks up my sleeve. :(

There's something going on with the problematic computer, perhaps an O/S Repair might work, not sure if it will help.

A great alternative for your issue is getting a NAS, full specs and diagram also included here. It's a File Server that will centralize all your files. I use NAS's Device at my Home and Work, transfer speed is very good as long as it supports Gigabit.

Yes, that is a good conclusion, thank you for your suggestions. FYI, I just noticed a Nero Scout Folder right below Bill Documents, don't know what that is or if it affects anything.

I'll see if I can find my Original XP CD & try the repair.
This PC has 1tb hard drive plus I got a 80gb External I use for backups. So guess I'll put copies of all on here and live with the situation, though frustrating especially when I had a good 4 PC Network prior to adding this PC with Win 7.:(

What security software do you have (anti-virus, anti-trojan, etc)? If you have anything other than MSE, uninstall it from all computers, reboot, and see what happens.

Avira Antivir Personal and manually run SuperAntiSpyware a couple timesa week. Of Course Windows Defender on all 3 PC.
What do you mean "Have you updated System Specs"?

Uninstall your antivirus software, reboot, and see what happens.

Google MSE.

Why do you run a spyware scan a couple of times each week?

I found MSE, removing current Avti Virus/Spyware Apps now. SuperAntiSpyware would find Tracking Cookies that Defender missed, some days would find 40+ Tracking cookies & malware.

After Enabling the Guest Account on BILLDT2, num-lock has become Disabled thus when PC restarts I've got to enable num-lock which I forget out of habit so wrong password gets entered.

I removed all AntiVirus & AntiSpyware from BILLDT2, restarted, BILLDT1 detects BILLDT2 but still denies access. OF couse I got a warning now in Taskbar that PC is unprotected, so guess I need to reinstall AVira Antivir Personal.
