No crashes since Friday evening, no proof yet but I'm hopeful.
When putting the 7600GS back in I booted into safe mode to install the Nvidia drivers to avoid Windows from installing the standard drivers. So far it looks like that did the trick. I'll wait a week or so to see how it goes.
