win 7 repair tells me it cannot repair my vertion of win7

hi all my new pc advent desktop has win7 profesional pre installed(no insterlation disk ) i recently had the misfortune of the (system tools trojan)

this seems to have removed drive cleanup/system tools from all programs, start menu.

i tried sfc /scannow but it seems it has not repared all files.

trying system restore option win 7 it tells it (is not compatable with my vertion of windows)???? which was already pre installed.


i created 2 dvds when i first had pc (not sure what these are meant to do) if i completly return pc to its original state , i will lose a lot of downloaded files etc.


is there a way to repair/restore win 7 without losing data, if there is no insterlation disk as such as its all pre bundled on hard drive.

i can boot and run win7 ok but not sure if there is any hidden viruses or remains of system tools virus.

You probably have a few things to do.
Firstly I'd down load free Malwarebytes (a well respected program) and run it.
Report back what it finds.
Also backup your personal files and data trying to make sure not to include infected files.
Try to find out the procedure to perform a factory restore with your PC which may be required and you should know how to do anyway.

thanks mjf i ran malware bites it reported 2 minor bugs which which malware has removed,
i cannot see anything in task manager that may relate to system tools virus.

incidently changing my start menu options(text rather than icons) all my programes disk cleanup etc have returned??

i am backing up the files i wish to keep,

not sure if my rather poor manual has factory reset, it has full destructive recovery which reinstalls windows.
