Hi all,

I'm getting an ACCESS_DENIED_ERROR 80070005 when trying to install Service Pack 1 on WIN 7 x64

Have tried the standalone installer and I'm running it as Administrator. Antivirus is disabled. Tried installing with Clean Boot & Safe Mode. Still no joy.

Banging my head against a wall at the moment. Any ideas?

Hi SirDingo,

Welcome to SevenForums!

I'm getting an ACCESS_DENIED_ERROR 80070005 when trying to install Service Pack 1 on WIN 7 x64.

[1] Have you have performed a Clean Install?

[2] Download the MGADiag.exe Tool [direct download] => MGADiag Tool, Run it, and click Continue.

The M$ tool however, does not automatically create a log file. What you can do though, is click the COPY button and then PASTE it into notepad and SAVE it. You then need to either paste the output into your post [preferable], or upload the saved log file [see below].

I hope this helps!

1. Might be a problem with updates. One way is to chsk cbs.log to find which updates and then uninstall them.
Look for everything listed under "Failed to get session package state for package:"

2. Another way is to do a repair install, for which you need installation media that already includes SP1.

It is possible to download DELL win7x64Pro media, but it is huuuge because it contains multiple languages.

Alternatively, backup your activation first, using dism++
View attachment Dism++10.1.1000.100.zip

Then do a repair install with regular MS win7x64Pro media that already includes SP1

Hi

Nothing wrong with the Mgadiag, it does raise a couple of questions

the first - Bios does not appear to have been updated since the install late 2010.
please update it, and any others drivers

Has this machine been trying to update to SP1 since its release in 2011 ??
(requires the following tobe present beforehand - KB2454826, KB2534366, and KB2533552)

or is this a image/clone install ??

finally
check the system time is correct and remove any external drives.

Roy

might be quicker to follow SIW2's instructions:-)
