Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
Any reason it's taken you this long to get sp1 it's been out for a very long time :)

It would be best to clean install with an iso with sp1 already on it.
Then there are another 160 or so important updates to install :)

If you need a win-7 sp1 iso to create an installer just say so.
Or do it yourself using chrome
Download Windows 7 and 8.1 ISO Images from Microsoft - gHacks Tech News

Thanks for the responses. That Kb is not a requirement for SP1 but when I try to install from the SP1 download it fails suggesting to run the System Update readiness tool, this is when I get the errors as originally posted in the CheckSUR.log

Not sure as to why this PC has never been updated before but a lot of programs would need reloading if I did a clean install, I agree this is an option but if I could get those corrupt files and place them in the relevant directories
•All files of type *.mum and *.cat should be placed in the %WinDir%\Temp\CheckSUR\Packages directory
•All files of type *.manifest should be placed in the %windir%\temp\CheckSUR\manifests directory

and then rerun the Update Readiness tool it might just solve the problem.

Thanks

IE 8. The user wants IE11 that''s the reason for the upgrade to SP1.
I'll read through the link and see what happens. Thanks for replying.

Hi All,

Many thanks for the replies / suggestions. I managed to obtain a copy of the corrupted files as pinpointed by the Update Readiness Tool Log. Having copied these files into the relevant directories & rerun the Update Readiness Tool there are now no errors reported in the Log. I have rerun the SP1 installation and all now works fine. Many thanks again.
