Win 7 SP1 Wish list...

I think windows 7 is a really great step in the right direction for Microsoft. But there are a few features that I would like to see added in SP1...

1. I am sure I am not the only one who has had trouble connecting to wifi networks. Is it really necessary for Windows to ask me for my credentials 10-20 times before it finally connects to the network?

2. in RDP: I would like the ability to auto fit the guest to fit the window that I have it in, similar to the way you can do it with VMware when you have VMware tools installed. It would make it much easier to work on two desktops at once.

3. Also in RDP: add the ability to share devices, such as thumb drives over the connection

4. Better support for multi monitor setups. I like Displayfusion, but I would like to have the ability to span one wallpaper across multiple monitors WITHOUT third party software.

5. I am a triple booter with 2 other OS's (Linux Mint and SL) on my computer. Windows 7 should be able to at least read ext4 and HFS+.

That seems like a good start. What is your wishlist?

That's a nice list for Windows8 or 9, but too late for /7 - especially SP1 which is all done and in dry wrappers.

Blu-Ray playback support in Media Center. No need for all the extra bell and whistles ... Just to able to watch a Blu-Ray disc without the need for 3rd party software.

thats a good point... i;m suprised they havent done this already, when Windows 7 RTM'd BluRay isnt exactly "new" technology now is it?

personally... i dont want them to change anything.... i like it how it is.... never have i had a computer so stable, i wouldnt mind seeing it a little snappier in opening programs though, but thats probably more down to my aging hardware than the OS

So if it is done, do you know when it will be available to MSDNAA members. I got early access to the RTM because of my status as a Computer Engineer at the University of Illinois...

Microsoft has not yet released an availability date. It is supposd to be "this summer". But there seem to be some Torrent leaks on the web.

A de-activate this install option for retail versions of windows 7. It should in theory make it easier to move and activate your install on to a new PC without having to call Microsoft.
The ability to put a different wallpaper on your second or third monitor would be nice.
