Win 7 Upgrade worked fine, but a few issues...

I did the cache changes and NCQ changes separately, and rebooted after each change. I rebooted when the NCQ change prompted me to.

I'm wondering if that, due to me doing an upgrade as opposed to a clean install, that some of the drivers may not have been updated properly for my mainboard. I know that the SATA drivers weren't - I had to change those manually...

What motherboard do you have?

Ho many SATA ports do you have on the mobo? You might try also moving them...

oh, wait, which Bios version are you using, and is yours the 780i or the 780i FTW?

I have 3 total sata drives in use. Two HDs and one DVD. Both of the hard drives, which are on different sata controllers, have similar performance. Both are Seagate 16 MB cache - one 500 gig and one 300 gig.

Just the 780i, btw. I'll have to check on the bios ver.

Yikes! That is the original BIOS that came with the mobo, if you bought it sometime this year....

Try this:

1. Go to EVGA | Download Drivers
2. Select Mainboards in the first column
3. Select BIOS Updates in the second column
4. Select NF78 - nForce 780i SLI in the third
5. Click the Go button.
6. Download the most appropriate one (since you're already running Windows 7, I *highly* recommend that you use the floppy/USB method or the ISO method (I use that as I have plenty of CDRWs lying around to use).

OK, BIOS updated to latest.

WEI score jumped to 5.8 with NCQ turned off.

The Sustained rate I posted prior hasn't changed at all.

The velociraptor only gets a 6.0 rating(which is my lowest score). The same rating I had with two 320g in raid 0. Hopefully when I get another and put those in raid 0 I'll get to 7.9

You are wrong if you are getting any issues means that you you did not upgrade and i can give you a secret=If you change the date of your system(windows 7)before the expiration of windows 7 you can access it even after expiratio

My scores are terrible but my PC is performing excellent... The machine is running very crisp shuts down with no problem. Go figure...

You seem to have what I call a 'Lucky Packet'. Where all the components seem to gel perfectly with each other...

UAC seems to have resolved most of my issues, other than shutdown. I can live with the shutdown part for the time being.

Still surprised at how low my HD's performance index rating is, though.

Shut down in many cases can be fixed this way.
desktop -> open space right click -> new -> shortcut -> shutdown ->
ok -> shutdown . you should have a egly icon on desktop says shutdown.
open properties of shutdown, at behind shutdown.exe /s /t 000, move down and change icon to your preference. click apply.
now when you double click the shutdown. it gives the command shutdown NOW do not wait. = /t 000.

you also can add to shutdown.exe /r /t 000 and rename the icon Restart.
dowble click and it instantly goes into restart. plz change the icon and rename the shortcut to "Restart".
