Win update keeps prompting the same update...

This is not such a big deal, but it's getting to be a real annoyance.

Windows 7 keeps prompting me to install the security update for SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 3 (KB970892)

According to my update history, it has been installed successfully 5 times now. Yet every time I start the computer I am notified of an important update and it's always the same one.

What's the deal here? Is there something I can do to stop this. I still want to be notified of future updates.

I'm running W7 64-bit on a new Dell Studio 1555.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi and welcome

there sure is. when you are logged onto the upgrade site highlight the update and check hide it. it will not be downloaded again

Sorry, but I guess I'm just used to using the auto updates.

Do I go to Microsoft for this?

If I try to visit http://www.update.microsoft.com it just brings up my windows update window from my control panel. I'm at a loss. What am I missing?

MS supports their Updates and Service packs via email. You will get the help but not in real time.

That's fine. Where can I find an email address for support?

Thanks. I still haven't figured it out but I do appreciate the help. I just realized that In W7 you can right click for and option to hide updates which seems to stop the prompting.

We'll see...

Yeah but I didn't recommend that because it has this way of elbowing you and saying "Hey buddy, you hid a bunch of us - sure you don't wanna reconsider?"

Annoying:rolleyes:
