Solved win7 32 bit update error 80070643 for update KB 2823180

I am getting an update error 80070643 when I am trying to install update KB 2823180. help!

Post the results

Here are some instructions to make life easier
1) To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the ECP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt.
2) To run the commands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on the highlight – select Copy. In the CP Window, click on the black/white icon at top left – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the last command, so hit the Enter Key once.
3) To copy the results... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit... 'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to paste it into your response.

I think your best bet is to run the .NET cleanup tool - http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/08/28/8904493.aspx
then do a check for updates.
See what it finds then.

Sorry - real life getting in the way

The only thing I can think of is to uninstall/reinstall .NET - which is a risky procedure, so back up first!!
(I also have no idea whether it will work!)

Open Programs & Features
Click on the 'Turn Windows features on and off' link in the left column.
wait for the list to populate.
In the list, look for 'Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1' - there should be a 'blob' in the box next to it.
Click on the box until it's clear, then click OK
reboot
go back into the same place, and now click on the box again to get the blob back.
Click OK
Reboot
Go back to Windows Update, and do a scan for updates.

See what it finds.

It seems to still think that .NET 4 is installed, so it's trying to load non-existent executables.

What happens if you install.NET 4.5 from here... Download .NET Framework 4.5 from Official Microsoft Download Centre
