Win7 64 Home/P Bsod with Avast 8

I've have had a few issues with Avast since it was updated from Avast 7 to Avast 8. I previously had issues with Nod32 and Avast 8 in this thread: http://www.sevenforums.com/bsod-help-support/277797-bsod-during-nod32-scan-unknown-image-2.html I have used MSE and AVG, separately, without issues. However I wanted to try Avast again due to it's features. I re-installed Avast 1/2 weeks ago yet had the same issues with 5 booting Bsods and 1 Bsod in Windows. Avast support told me my 2 mini-dumps were " ntfs crash (hdd), second was memory crash". However as I said I have no issues with AVG or MSE so I would like another opinion outside of Avast's tech support.

I have not had a crash/bsod with normal system use. Although I have had programs crash I have pinpointed most of these to the program having issues, trying to load to much at once causing a hang, being impatient or just not closing the program in the usual way. I am sure my SF log will show these crashes. I resolved my GPU driver crash with tech support. A few of the SF logs may have recorded a few Bsods when I was overclocking trying to nail the voltage down. However I found stable settings for my overclock. I ran two hard stress tests and a full 12 hour blend test. I had no errors or bsods with these tests nor have I had any issues since. My overclock was not set during my issues with Avast. My system was on stock settings with proper settings for my ram, cpu, etc.

I have includes the 2 mini-dumps and 4 temp dumps created by windows triggered by Avast 8 in a Dump File.rar. Avast support has received these same files but only has looked at the mini-dumps.

- For troubleshooting's sake, uninstall all this first

Start Menu\Programs\Sophos\Sophos Anti-Rootkit

Too many running security apps can destabilize your PC...but I think you understand this too
They may left some leftovers, so you can use Revo Uninstaller

This is quite common. I'll go check this with someone

- Run these two commands from command prompt
:ar: chkdsk /r /f
:ar: SFC /scannow
as there are some errors related to Windows components

I rather not uninstall everything atm as none of the above programs do not seem to conflict with each other. It only happens with Avast 8 installed. I removed Sophos but this is program does not auto run or have an autostart process. I have to launch it and command it to scan. The two Comodo folders are both for the Firewall, Windows one is disabled. AVG was not installed with Avast, I installed AVG to have an AV program as a placeholder until I figured out what is wrong.

I will remove everything, run Revo, activity Windows firewall and install Avast 8 after I have done my chkdsk scan. Avast is currently not on my system.

I do not think this is a ram error as I ran Prime95 blend test for 12 hours just last week without any errors.

SFC /scannow didnt report any errors.

I ran the Window Memory Tool as suggested by Avast but it didnt report any errors after 10 passes. Should I still run Memtest?

I will run chdsk during the day and wait until tonight to run memtest if needed.

I will report back later today with my results

memtest is a superior tool than Windows as it is run on boot

do you know why it is disabled in your PC?

chkdsk /r /f can back clean. Memtest came back clean, no errors after 8 passes.

Smart Connect is likely disabled/not installed is likely an oversight by me. Last year I had my Motherboard replaced due to thermal damage either caused by the technician that assembled the system or a manufacturing defect. I had the M/B RMA'ed and the store charged as this was not caused by user errors. My CPU rarely get above 50C unless I run Prime95's blend test, which only hits 60C. Both are below the listed 72C on the website for the CPU. The Tech put so much thermal paste on the CPU it was all over the CPU retention bracket. I probably missed installing the program when I reassembled the system myself. I have installed the driver you have linked.
