I have Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit. I have been trying to install and run The Sims 2. Installation is fine but every time I want to play the game I get the incompatible popup. I have been using the compatibility troubleshooter to set the game to WinXP sp2 and clicking start now and it plays fine. However I have to do this every time. If I just click on the desktop icon, the game starts loading and crashes shortly after the initial splash screen.

I've checked the compatibility list here and it says TS2 IS compatible. But my machine says it is not. Is it compatible with some versions of Win7 and not others?

I have games even older than TS2 that are loading and playing without problems on Win7 and without having to use the troubleshooter. These are games that I played on Win98.

Can you tell me what I need to do to get TS2 to be compatible?

Same happened under Vista. I got a pop up, directing me to EA.com to download a patch. you might want to check if there is anything similar for W7.
