Windows 7 has started to say that it's no longer genuine. I've tried the command "slmgr -rearm" it's worked in the past but this time it has said that i have exceeded the maximum number of rearms, so I've changed the registry "SkipRearm" to 1 and used the command again, it works but when i restart the computer, Windows 7 is still not genuine, and the registry "SkipRearm" entry has been reset to 0.

The current install is classed as Counterfeit - the Key is an OEM_SLP Key, only valid on machines from large manufacturers.
Your machine is based on a Retail MSI motherboard, and doesn't have the required BIOS tables to be able to activate such a Key.

I've had this sytem for roughly 4 years, i had gotten a new case about a year ago so there are no stickers on it regarding the contents, i did not purchase the machine as a whole, i built it myself. With this system setup i have had windows running fine since i got it. However i had started to use the slmgr -rearm method when my room-mate was messing with BIOS settings, and this method had been working since 2 days ago. What steps can i take to make my system "genuine" again?

Actually, the hard drive is the only part i didn't replace, so i don't know what went about with the OS installation

AHHHHH The light dawns!

What you're effectively saying is that you moved an existing Windows installation (from a branded PC?) to a new machine by moving the hard drive?

This will ALWAYS result in a demand for re-activation.
The problem comes because OEM licenses cannot be moved from one machine to another - especially the OEM_SLP license.

If you want to be able to move licenses between machines you must use a Full Retail license.
