win7/firefox issue

Really stumped on this one. I've been using FireFox on my PC for a while and recently upgraded to v9.0.1

Ever since then I've found my cursor hanging up and I get the "Ta-dum" sound as well.

Before I ditch my browser is there anyway to find out what the heck is causing this problem?

Is there a conflict between Win7 and firefox that I'm not aware of?

I haven't had any problems with FF 9.0.1 on W7 Ultimate (64-bit).

Have you looked in the "Event Viewer"?

Are you using a wired mouse?
If so, is the cable and socket/plug in good condition and securely seated?

Have you tried reinstalling FF?

I've removed all of them and still have the same problem.

I have the same problem with FF 6 but not 9.0.1. Does IE work OK?

I bet you, its flash...I've been having this problem on and off every so often. Opening Task Manager and killing "plugin-container.exe" seems to help revive Firefox from its hang up.

Anyone able to tell me how to identify the culprit?

I'm guessing using the Event Viewer but I'm not experienced with it at all.

Open Device Manager & check the USB connections.
If you have a wireless mouse. check the battery
If you have another mouse handy try it .

Until Adobe or Mozilla fixes what ever is going on, you'll have to do it often.
You could use "Flashblock" to prevent flash from loading without your permission.
That should cut back the amount you have to kill plugin-container.exe.

Have you checked that your Flash plug-in is up-to-date?

There must be something about the setup of your PC that is causing the problem though (some weird interaction).
My FF 9.0.1 (+ Flash) doesn't have the problem you describe.

NoScript is another add-on which will block javascript and as an extra bonus, Flash.
That should also help protect you from dodgy websites.
