Win7 Registry Power Options

Does anyone know where I can find the Power Option settings in the Windows 7 Registry?

I have a problem with my monitor display dimming and it's annoying. It started about 2 months ago. I've read many forums and tried different things including changing Power Options every which way and than some. My UAC was set off and monitor still dims. I can log on to my secondary User Account with identical power options set and the annoying dimming goes away. It's not the driver or the UAC,

I'd like to find the Power Option settings in the Registry and see how the Register settings for the good User compares to the bad User and hopefully, shed some light on this nagging problem. Of course, another alternative is a complete and clean reinstall of Win 7 which I'd like to avoid if at all possible.

Have you tried turning off the dynamic contrast ratio in the monitors menu?
Let me know if your monitor has that turned on.

Since the problem exist in only one profile it's unlikely that any monitor settings are causing the problem.

Review the info here and see if it helps...

Thank you for your quick response.

First, I restored the Single Power Plan which I was using. Then rebooted and it didn't work.

Second, I restored All Power Plans to default settings, rebooted and that didn't work but the severity of the dimming is not as severe but it still occurs.

It's weird because as soon as I move my cursor to somewhere in the dimmed window and click in an area that can be responded to, it's immediately 100% bright again.

This is why I thought that if I could see the power option parameters in the Registry, I could compare the good user to the bad and maybe see some difference.

Thanks to Iggy in Arizona. The Dynamic Contrast setting for my Samsung monitor was on. Changing it to another mode completely eliminated the annoying dimming of the display. I am able to confirm it was this setting that caused the annoying problem.

I was sure something else might be causing the problem but happened to be reviewing the settings on my monitor and came across a feature of the monitor that provides different viewing enviornments. I found Dynamic Contrast set. I changed it to another mode, rebooted and could not reproduce the problem. I set Dynamic Contrast on again, rebooted and could make the display dim again. Changed setting back to off, rebooted and could not make it dim.

I'm sorry it took awhile to get back. To be honest, it took awhile for me to find the mode settings.
