win7 search sets off before even finished typing !

Hi,
Win 7 64bit pro.
What have Msoft done to a perfectly good search function as in XP, one could type the search terms, then select a date range then hit find, now it starts searching as soon one starts typing, then by the time I have entered the search words and asterisks either side of the word, then selected a date range from the calendars, its searched and said nothing found, or its filled the page with all sorts of stuff it was finding before it let me tell it what I was searching for.

Its like start reading out the shopping list and the child is already running to the shops !

What idiots at Msoft did this ? It was fine since win3 through to XP.

I have to close the search and restart win explorer then select the search criteria from the little window and of it goes again , this time on what I WANT IT TO DO.

I am running Classic Shell which was the only way to overcome a load of other mess ups made for changes sake, 3 months getting win7 back to what works best, but it doesnt control this function.

whats the fix ?

This is by default in Win7 and there is nothing you can do about it either then install a third party search engine like Agent Ransack
