Hello there,

As the title says, I get random hang/freeze while on desktop.
Usually, the system gives some 2-3 freezes (for 4-5 secs) before is hangs out! Then you can't alt-tab or even ctrl+alt+del. I don't know if it matters but I'm also losing sound while freezing. Last but not least, once, my monitor turned black and lost signal!

- I've tried to downclock my MSI 560Ti Hawk to stock clocks but without luck.
- 5 months earlier I've tried memtest for 8 passes (no errors) due to another issue.
- Checked CPU/GPU temps while issue (no problems)
- tried Furmark with no problems

Any help/suggestion would be appreciated.

Thanx for the prompt rely mate!

As I said on my initial post I have BSOD's issues some months earlier so I wanted to check the PSU as well. A friend of mine came before the summer with a device (attached it directly on PSU) in order to check the voltage stability. I don't know if there is another way to check it. He didn't find something strange though on the values.

The sfc scan didn't give me back any problems (run twice).

Yep well the as I say to everyone correct volts do not mean correct current and for that you need an ammeter and that is specialist equipment. But one thing you could test when powered up is to test teh volts at pin 8 (grey cable) on the 24 pin connector it has to be between 2.4 and 6v to operate the machine. Read this article and you will see what I mean in page two there is a section on Power_Good and if that voltage is not there or below 2.4v at any time it means that the timer chip will not be set to power on the system because the PSU self test for volts is going wrong.
If it reads steady then we shall have to look elsewhere.
Anyway have a look at this and it may be an idea to save it for a refrence.
Power Supply 101: A Reference Of Specifications - Power Supplies

if you need to test again see this http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/86648-psu-jump-start.html

PLEASE be CAREFUL around the PSU as you probably know there are some very dangerous voltages inside.

I am off to get something to eat so be patient. ;)

The device my friend brought here was a tester. That device could check the ambers as well...if that makes any sense (I'm not very familiar with the device).

It was this or something like it

Not a problem that is the sort of device although an amateur one that will measure the amps.

Now just curious but why have you got two sound cards installed?? Maybe you should try with one taken out and then if the problem persisysts remove that oer and insert the pother if the sound still is no good try the two slots with each card if the sound is still no good then maybe the sound cards are no good .

While you are at it try reseating everything and try this

Now as for the slots to cleanthem use a strip of old credit card about 1/2 inch wide nip the corners off oneend - preferably round them off hold a piece of thin lint free clothover the end dab on some form of alcohol - iso propyl alcohol (what we swab theskin with before an injection) is good and GENTLYswipe along the slots.

This can also be done for the GPUslot/s.

Sorry, my bad that I haven't removed the PCI audio card (needed it before for mixing purposes) from my spec.
I don't have that card anymore. The device manager looks like this atm.

Furthermore, I have heard from friends that some Gigabyte has issues with specific Sandy Bridge's. No idea if that stands at all.

The chkdsk you didn't mention have you run that yet?

Have you got any backup material at all??

Now the sound problem may be something central but if it is the card take it out and use the onboard sound if it works the card is dead.

If I may make a suggestion I have an Ivy and Sandy Bridge one with an Asus board (Ivy) and one with Gigabyte board (Sandy) I have got the Asus Xonar XG card in both and they are just absolutely perfect for me as the GUI you can mix , create effects etc etc up to and including for a 7:1 system

Unfortunately, I will run the chkdsk later at night cause I'm rendering all day & I have to reboot in order to run one.

What do you mean by backup material?

Have you got any of your data stored on another drive of some sort ie another internal or external drive in case of a crash you can do that by cloning, and imaging (most do that).

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/663-backup-complete-computer-create-image-backup.html

PS unles you have huge drives you want to check then that chkdsk doesn't take that long say half hours max (for me) on a 500G drive - but don't chkdsk an SSD if you ever get one.:)

Sorry late reply mate but it could possibly be something to do with the Firefox and NVidia conflicting if it is only happening with using the browser?

I have to admit I have not had much to do with Mozilla stuff so am really just going on a gut feeling here.

If that's the case I'll lose my remaining hair :D
Anyway, I'll test it just in case. Some people mentioned a difference when disabled the "Use hardware acceleration when available" via Options>Advance
