Win7 update kills Internet

I have a slightly different system to most:
I receive my Internet signal via a WAP. Due to the local terain, I have my WAP located as high as possible in the ceiling of my house and then run an RJ45 cable to a wireless router. This router then feeds 3 different computers by cable and a netbook by wireless. Only one of the computers has Win7 installed.
All computers were running well up to midday yesterday. I was on the Win7 computer when it suddenly shut down the application I was using and started to install the latest updates. It didn't give me a chance to save what I was doing and then proceeded to re-boot. After the re-boot, I discovered my connection to the Internet had gone!
I checked my IP tables to see if anything had been changed, but everything was OK.
Has anyone else experienced this behaviour (and, no, I haven't fixed the problem - I'm using one of the other computers to write this post).

Could u try a system restore perhaps.

My Computer

OS
Windows XP - Now Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit).
If you have System Restore turned on, Win 7 should have created a restore point before if installed the update. You can try the restore point. Also, you can try uninstalling the update.

I realise that, but then I don't have the update and eventually, if I want to keep my system updated, , the update will re-install and I'll be back to where I am now.

You can set Windows update to notify you of new updates and not install them automatically. You can uncheck that update and then hide it. You won't see it again. I have been running Win 7 since December and I have had to uninstall two updates and do a system restore for the the third. All three of those updates are now hidden.

You can review the updates before you install them. Windows updates are not 100% perfect by any means. There are millions of different hardware and software combinations out there. There are bound to be some conflicts here and there. If you read about each update you will find that each has a problem with something out there. I wouldn't worry about skipping a few unless they were critical updates.
