As long as you got Sharks codec package from a trusted source (his site/major geeks) that trojan is a false positive.

AVG is just making a mistake.

I've used Shark007's codecs for a while, and I also got a false positive recently.

Shark007's stuff can be trusted, without question.

Just make sure you get it from Major Geeks.

i downloaded and installed sharks from majorgeeks after completely uninstalling k-lite. i wanted to finally compare the two. in sharks i kept getting video freezes where i did not get freezing in k-lite. the only thing i could see with shark over k-lite is out of the gate the sound was set perfect. with k-lite i had to go in and check one box. i'll deal with having to check one box if it means i do not have to deal with video freezing. so i am staying with k-lite.

A default installation of the Shark007 codecs does not change anything upon install. Everything is still being decoded by the Microsoft decoders. After installation, I suggest you open the settings application and use the suggested settings checkbox if you are unsure what settings you may need.

once a codec pack is installed it is the one doing the decoding. pre k-lite using wmp no freezing. k-lite installed using mpc no freezing. snarks codec pack installed using mpc freezing.

i may but only when K-Lite will fail to work properly then i'm gonna try this one.

I'm interested in installing Sharks codec pack. However, I have a concern. Why would I have to install a 32 bit application first, before I install the 64 bit? I don't see how that makes any sense.

The x64 Components are an 'addon' to the 32bit installation.
addon = not a standalone product.

K-lite got separate releases. you can get and install only 32 or 64 or both. they don't interfere.

Been using K crap as Shark calls it and I had problems playing mkv files, but now I installed his codecs they run very well no stuttering or sound problems, thankyou very much Mr Shark for all your hard work and dedication

Okay, so tell me Shark. Right now I haven't encountered any problems with WMP 12, but I'm sure I will eventually, it's the default player in 7 Ultimate x64. If I install your codec pack, I shouldn't expect any future trouble playing any file type? You seem pretty knowledgable in this area, so I'm just asking if it's a good idea to install your codec pack as a preventative measure for future problems? I'm not a power media user or anything, just your normal video files I'll be trying to play.

The reason I'm leary of codec packs is that I've had a few bad experiences with them. A few times I had to reinstall the OS it was so bad.

One last question. Will it play flash video's, and VOB DVD media?
