Solved Windows 10 Update "Removal"

Did you click on the Review optional updates link on the second screen shot ?
If so you also right clicked the win-10 update and selected Hide ?

Sounds like it should be listed in processes if 10 is installing :/
Processes section,
If not listed there on the bottom left click on Show processes for all users and look there too.

Checked all over, can not find any GWX.exe file..

2 updates, I checked them and started the update, and of course windows 10 is there doing it's trick..

I had 2 choices.

• Option One: To Enable or Disable Upgrade to Windows 10 Update using a REG file (I used this one)
• Option Two: To Enable or Disable Upgrade to Windows 10 Update using Group Policy

Then download this: 3. To Disable Upgrade to Windows 10 Update to the desktop. Then I clicked on the file and when it opened I clicked "Merge" then I was ask 2 questions, which I clicked Yes.


Then it disappeared.. Then I did a reboot and checked the updates and my old buddy was still hanging in there..

Only one..

I got this machine off my friend, after her mom passed away I took it off her hands..

I left it the same way it was, and sometimes the name Debbie appears..

Debbie is the original owner, her son tried installing windows 7 on top of windows 7 and screwed the machine up..

I took it and redone the machine to work properly..

I don't know how to remove Debbie's name, it's on a few files..

If this is the case I would do a clean install and that would take care of all of your issues,
Then refer to page one on how to cull out the win-10 updates before they install which is the preferred way,

Seriously consider buying a new ssd to install win-7 on you will not regret a ssd it's the single best performance upgrade for a old machine or new machine for that matter

I can do a clean install to factory default..But are you saying get a new ssd (harddrive) I'm not sure what ssd means..

Yes ssd is a solid state drive
But if you're referring to using a factory system restore then no because that is your only installation media choice now

OK I'll look into a ssd..

I have all the O/S disc's, so I'm ok there..

I thought there was a restore to factory default in the menu..

They seldom work so a good practice is to be prepared to have a clean install media available if needed

If you have one do a clean install and avoid all of the manufacture crapware prepackaged with the unit

Crucial BX100 model ssd's are pretty reasonable and very good I have several MX100 models and they are too very good but I believe the BX is a little better,

I always remove the crap ware before going back online..

I was also wondering if I should just let Win. 10 install, I'd have 30 days to revert back, and Microsoft, would do a clean install of Win. 7

Don't hard drives have to be the same as what is installed. Mine shows as 3.0 GB. I'm not all that computer savvy, enough to maybe save my behind, doing little stuff. I have installed hard drives and blower fans added memory..

You certainly could just go with the flow on installing 10 since this install is a factory install that came with the computer

And you have other clean install media disk to do a win-7 install later

The ssd suggestion was just that = a suggestion for better long term performance gains if doing a clean install

I certainly will check out the ssd..

I see your from Houston, my stepson lives in Richmond Tx. has his own locksmith business..

I know Houston not to badly, one place I loved to go was The Black Labrador Pub..

Lastest is, I did updates had one for Microsoft Securities and Skype, so took a chance and did the install, Windows 10 appeared once more, so I thought let it install, well news is it installed the two updates and "no Win.10"

So by following all the instructions here, it worked..

My stepson use to live by the White Oaks Mall, we could walk there from his place, then he bought a huge place in Richmond, that some dragster use to own..Has a huge pole barn insulated with a couple of car lifts installed, his son loves that..
