Windows 7 64 bit falls over when installing service pack 1

Hi

Tried to install Service Pack 1 on my machine today and I find it gets stuck as it installs once I've shut it down. I did have to hide one of the updates about a month ago which did the same thing, so I'm assuming it's been put in SP1 and is what's causing it to get stuck.

Just tried to view the hidden updates to tell you which one it was, and to ask how to stop it from installing in SP1, but it seems to have disappeared from there, which might be because of SP.

So, two questions;

1. Can I find this missing hidden update?
2. Is there a way that I can remove this one update from SP1?

Please clarify.
SP1 can take some time to install.

* Have you a System Restore Point created PRIOR to your current troubles?

** Have you checked in Event Viewer?
Type eventvwr in search.
Go to the Windows Logs > Application / System > in the left hand column.
Note anything in red that relates to the current problem.
Please record the event ID, and the Source Code and tell us what they are.

I do believe SP1 is an all or nothing deal, you can't exclude one of the included updates from installing. You might want to slipstream SP1 into your install media or find install media that includes SP1, then try a clean install with that. I'm not sure if this is what you did, but if installing SP1 separately, I would do it right after a clean install before installing anything else or doing any updates.
