Windows 7 64 usable ram 3Gb of 8Gb

Hey all I have a computer that has 8Gb of Ram but only using 3Gb of it.

It's a NEC X8806 Powermate

I haven't been about to find a bios update for it

The image is the model of the motherboard which is a gigabyte board if someone could be me that would be great.

The bios has no remapping memory options in it either

Gamer I can find no board yet for the Gigabyte so what CPU is it using and how old the board is and is the CMOS battery dead been taken out or what?? Have you changed any jumpers on or near the CMOS battery

The memory usage - have you tried opening Task manager and clicking on Processes to see what is chewing up the memory. See pic of my Ivy Bridge here

One last thing have you considered the memory may be going south??
Edit Sorry I may have misread that do you mean you are concerned that the 8GB of RAM only has 3GB being used??

Update on that board mate I found this which is telling me it is a rather old model and I would be suspecting has seen better days Gigabyte Motherboard GA TG33MH Socket 775 E8400 3 00GHz | eBay

I can't find any information about the motherboard. I think it is an OEM motherboard. I can't figure out of it even supports up to 8GB of RAM (But commonly it should, my older MSI MS-7525 is old as hell but supported a maximum of 8GB DDR2).

Well Gamer I have to say that is quite an old board and I would suggest it only supports 4GB like a lot of the oldies did. Now when I looked at that board on the EBay ad it also shows a lot of old style caps (and an Intel E8400 CPU – 775 socket - that was first released in Q1 08 possibly making that board 8 years old) - I would be looking around the see if they are all intact especially around the RAM slots.

The memtest what test did you use again?? as we only advise this one http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.html the Windows feature and other sites you may as well not bother.

I would be curious to know if that tool tells you the limits per memory slot for that old of a motherboard.

Also I'm sure that this system is able to run 8Gb too cause it has the 8Gb installed from OEM

As stated it probably only supports 4 GB, I`m surprised it even runs with 8 GB installed.

You need to post a link or find a link with the specs, to look at yourself.

I found exactly one reference to NEC Powermate x8860 on the entire internet and it wasn't useful. :/

Can you post a screenshot of Computer Properties (Right-click My Computer -> Properties)?

That is not the board OP has, that is a totally different board with same socket. OP has a GA-TG33MH. Unless it is a re-brand of that board but from what I can find it seems to be Micro ATX.

You are absolutely correct, I apologise to the OP. I input the TG33MH and it took me to another model. But it looks like someone else had a similar problem, this board looks to have been used in more than one proprietary PC's: https://tinyurl.com/hw84q39 - scroll down to Elite 9092's 4th post. I think the board is a dead Parrot.

Gamer don't know if I have linked this before but my ditty will give you very detailed info on anything in that machines especially in PART B:

Using HW Info
PART A:
You can test the volts on the PSU with HW Info HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 - Download < download the right bit version and close the right hand window select Sensors and scroll down to the power section where you will see what the volts are doing see my pic. Now the section you want will be labelled - fpr example Asus boards usually have "Nuvoton" and Gigabyte boards "ITE" in any case the section you want will have Vbatt or VBAT in it (dead give away)
The original right hand window shows the machine running and is handy for that but for looking at the components in some detail close it and use the main left hand side panel
FOR OTHER COMPONENTS
PART B:
Open each small square with + in it on the section the components are in and then click on the individual component/s (it will highlight in blue) - in the right hand side will appear all sorts of details including brands speeds and other essential info that particular device. See pic for example.


Now the problem is that the board you refer to I personally cannot find anywhere and seeing it in that EBay ad like I said gives me the impression it is really quite old and just as a by the by what type RAM are you using DDR 1, 2 or 3 (doubtful)
