Gigabyte is better for mobo's in terms of BIOS's - a lot of motheboards have 2 BIOS chips and the Ultra Durable technology is useful.

That may well be true, but I once had a bad problem finding a new Gigabyte MB that would work in my PC. That was been several year ago, and I may just have been "lucky", but after trying 4 from one store and 2 from another of the same model, I gave up and went to Asus. Dual chips is a good idea, but it is so quick and easy to replace a socketed chip like on my current MB, that it is just as good.

It wouldn't work - ? Ultra Durable 3 is usually better than Asus's boards.

I only use Asus motherboards. This isn't a post about what motherboard to buy so can we stay on topic this forum has a bad habit of people changing topics.

I've had this board for a number of years its been very stable. I have always used Nvidia chipsets and can't stand Via.

So were are we here you are correct that download does not have the cool and quite folder my bad but it does have the ACPI64/winvista did you try that driver? I'm not real sure were I got this other driver but here is a link to a copy of it. I downloaded it and scanned it seems ok. I believe its the same as the one I have on my HD.

Also were sure its the ACPI device and not the midi controller right? Midi does not work. You can install the cool and quite if you like as well, I believe it works in 7.

thanks zone. Yes I disabled the midi in the bios like you said and that took care of one unknown device. I'll try that driver and see if it works for the other.
