I can't install, uninstall or update Internet Explorer.

Errors from windows update:
Code 9C48
&
Code 9C57

I've been trying literally for 3 days straight from the time I get up to the time I go to sleep to try to fix this. I don't usually post on forums about this type of thing but I really need to fix this. Internet Explorer is of course, pre-installed on my OS.

A new job (I'm a freelancer) requires me to use Internet Explorer to activate a program (Autodesk 3dsmax) -- the activation screen doesn't show up!!

In any case, thats another problem all together but to fix that I need to fix Internet Explorer, and to fix Internet Explorer I need to fix the Windows Updater & to fix that.. I do what? I've tried every single thing possible.

So I'm probably going to need a more customized solution. I'm not sure what could fix my specific problem.

Extremely sorry to have to ask for help & thank you in advance. Even if it can't be fixed I'm extremely grateful for any help or advice that can be given.

Its important I find a way to fix this fast since I'm so behind on work now, so even if theres a regular user that has any good information - anything thats fairly well hidden, tips, tricks anything -- I'd be really happy to hear it. :)

I really don't see any alternative to a repair install there. :(

Ack I didn't expect that many--thats terrible! Thanks for letting me know! :)

I have no idea what could have caused that. Is there anything I should expect after the repair install?

I'm a bit worried since I see a lot of other Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium users are stuck in a similar loop. Should I be doing anything special to prevent it or just going along with a regular repair install?

I've only seen one or two people with such numerous errors - but they may be due to a very small number of real errors (but it's far easier to do a repair install and flush the registry than it is to attempt to isolate and repair such problems).

Once the repair install is complete, you will need to reinstall ALL the windows updates again
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html?ltr=R should help your through it.
