Windows 7 Build 7601 This copy of Windows is (not) genuine!? Help!

I sent my laptop off for a repair by the TechGuys @ PC World ages ago but now I keep the message that my Windows is counterfeit.
The TechGuys insist that they have not installed corrupt software and refuse to do anything more about it

I have tried to remove the sp1 that I saw on another post but received the following message : "Installer encountered error: 0x800736b3. The reference assembly is not installed on your system."

The problem is that I don't have the Windows 7 OS disc because it was pre-installed when I bought the laptop, so I'm left with this problem and no way to fix it other than spend more money buying a new OS and I simply don't have it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated so thank you in advance if you can help.

your best option is to download windows home premium and use the key located on the COA sticker on the back of your laptop..

I would read this

Windows 7 displays "Windows is not Genuine" with an error code of 0x80070005

If it doesn't help, i would contact Microsoft.

There are a number of problems in the report -

Please start with this...


Open Windows Explorer (Computer)
Navigate to the C:\Windows folder
Find the System32 sub-folder and right-click on it
select Properties

Clear the 'blob' from the 'Read-only (Only applies to files in folder)' box by clicking on it until it's plain white.
Click on Apply.

Make sure that the radio button for 'Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files' is set, and click OK.

Accept the Administrator prompt. After a couple of seconds, you'll be told there is an error - click on the 'Ignore all' button.

Wait for it to finish - it could take a couple of minutes.

OK out, and exit Windows Explorer.

Reboot twice
